Key Responsibilities
  • Fuel, grease, and service heavy equipment, including excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, and support equipment
  • Perform daily inspections and identify maintenance or safety issues
  • Conduct preventative maintenance and minor mechanical repairs
  • Assist mechanics with troubleshooting and equipment repairs
  • Monitor and maintain fluid levels (engine oil, hydraulic, coolant, etc.)
  • Maintain accurate service records, inspection logs, and reports
  • Operate service trucks and maintain tools and equipment in a clean, safe condition
  • Follow all Ames Construction safety policies and jobsite procedures
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience as an oiler, mechanic, or heavy equipment technician
  • Strong knowledge of heavy civil construction equipment and maintenance practices
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Valid driver's license required (CDL preferred)
  • Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening and physical

This position is associated with work performed under agreements with Operating Engineers Local 12.

Arizona is a Right-to-Work state, meaning:

Preferred Qualifications
  • CDL with tanker and/or hazmat endorsements
  • Experience with CAT, Komatsu, John Deere, or similar equipment
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Experience working on heavy civil, mining, or large infrastructure projects
Work Environment
  • Outdoor construction setting in varying weather conditions
  • Extended hours, including overtime, weekends, and possible night work
  • Physically demanding role requiring lifting, climbing, and prolonged standing
