The
Health Professions Department is seeking to expand its pool of part-time faculty to teach Nursing Assistant courses, as well as act as the program director.
The primary responsibility of the Nursing Assistant Instructor is to provide quality teaching in a full range of community college Nursing Assistant courses.
- Beyond the required education and experience, instructors must have a passion for what they teach and have teaching styles that support student success. Instructors are responsible for following Division and College procedures in support of teaching and learning.
- This is an application pool posting for 2026. The assigned location for this position is at the Lane Community College's main campus located in Eugene, Oregon.

Required Qualifications

- Associate Degree In Nursing
- Have evidence of completion of a course on teaching adults, or one (1) year of experience teaching adults in any of the following:
- As faculty in a nursing education program
- In a staff development role
- As a nurse administrator

| Required Experience: |
- Two (2) years' professional experience as an RN, with at least one (1) year in direct patient care in a licensed long-term care nursing facility
- One (1) year of experience in direct patient care in an acute care facility

| Licensure or Certification Requirements |
- Hold current, unencumbered Oregon Registered Nursing (RN) license
- Current certification in CPR/Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers and First Aid, or the ability to obtain it prior to employment

| Position Purpose: |
This position is responsible for all aspects of the academic program, including its administration in accordance with Oregon State Board of Nursing standards. Release time is provided to the instructor to perform administrative duties necessary to meet requirements of program accreditation, credentialing, and/or federal and state regulations |
| Essential Functions: |
- Coordinate student clinical practicum education:
- Select and approve appropriate practicum sites
- Provide orientation for the on-site supervisors
- Provide oversight of the practicum experience
- Ensure appropriate and sufficient evaluation of student achievement
- Initiate and maintain clinical affiliation agreements between practicum settings and the college
- Maintain program and curricular effectiveness with a dedication to continuous assessment, budgeting, and planning principles:
- Program and student learning outcomes assessment
- NA curriculum development
- Continuous program review
- Planning and development, including unit planning
- Compilation and completion of Oregon State Board of Nursing reports
- Identify and pursue grants and community outreach opportunities
- Conduct new student recruitment and advising activities, including the annual refreshment of the program handbook and application
- Collaborate with the Non-Credit Program Director on recruitment, assignment, and coaching of adjunct instructors
- Responsibilities of the nursing assistant:
- Ensure students develop requisite entry-level knowledge, skills, and competencies to sit for certification or licensure and/or work in the field
- Employ strong classroom management skills, including independent judgment, subject matter expertise, interpersonal skills, and knowledge of teaching theory and methodologies
- Advise, assist, and tutor students, and connect them with available resources to support their learning
- Effectively communicate with faculty, staff, students, and community partners
- As appropriate, coordinate, develop, or oversee Advanced College Credit courses with high school instructors
- Problem solve and manage sensitive information with appropriate awareness of FERPA standards; maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to the privacy needs of students
- Other duties as assigned

| Supervision Statement: |
Supervision of other personnel is not a typical function assigned to this position. May provide training and orientation to newly assigned personnel, and may assign work to student workers.
Works under the general direction of the Dean of Health Professions, Health and Physical Education and the Associate Dean/Director of Nursing. |
| Physical Demands/Working Environment: |
This position works indoors and is exposed to usual office working conditions that include office noises and interruptions, such as printers, telephones, and visitors. This position requires that an employee is able to sit or stand for extended periods of time; bend, kneel, stoop,reach, and manipulate objects; perform cognitive and psychometric work for extended periods of time. Remain on their feet for extended periods of time. This position may work with individuals who may be hostile or abusive. Work may require transporting materials up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Assist students in positioning patients. Work safely. |
