Job Description

University of Missouri Controller's office provides leadership in the planning, integration, financial reporting and tax compliance for the University across all campuses and the health system. Collectively with campus colleagues, we serve as a strategic and trusted advisor, support an inclusive and dynamic culture and workforce, and pursue continuous improvement through knowledge, collaboration and leadership.

A successful candidate for this position in the Controller's Office will:
* Understand the higher education industry

The Financial Information Systems (FIS) group maintains the University of Missouri's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP), Enterprise Performance Management (EPM), and other enterprise finance technology systems. Software platforms supported by this group include PeopleSoft Financials and Supply Chain Management, Workday Planning, Internal ColdFusion Web Applications, and Agiloft Contract Lifecycle Management. FIS provides functional expertise for these systems and is responsible for month-end and year-end transactional processing, data reconciliation, reporting, user experience, system maintenance/upgrades, and integrations. The group works closely with other enterprise systems including PeopleSoft HR and Campus Solutions, Cognos, Power BI, Azure, PowerCenter, MoveIT, and Tidal. This position also oversees the Procurement functions delivery.

Reporting to the Assistant Vice President and Controller, this position is primarily responsible to manage, enhance, and upgrade PeopleSoft Finance and other enterprise financial software. They provide support to the functional leads and campuses/end users on the day-to-day functionality of the applications. This position will ensure continued delivery of PeopleSoft Finance functions during a legacy systems containment period while the university works toward implementation of a new Cloud SaaS ERP system.

Key Responsibilities
Manage FIS Staff 20%
* Responsible for overall management of UM System FIS Staff of 11 professionals with varied tasks as outlined in their job descriptions. Some staff members are responsible for strategic and leadership and oversight of software modules/applications and related enhancements, maintenance, product upgrades, and new required functionality and application. Other staff members are responsible for key financial processes such as procurement and Hospital inventory, financial close processes, and reporting.

Responsible for enterprise-wide finance systems 60%
Provides leadership for the Lead functional project team in managing large, critical, high priority and complex initiatives with significant impact on the business processes and financial position.
* Responsible for changes to the ERP and EPM including upgrades, enhancements, and break-fixes. Identify how new features or core server software changes impact business processes, develop specifications for new functionality and enhancements, work with IT resources to implement changes, prepare scripts and facilitate user acceptance testing, and approve production migrations. Facilitate communication with users and stakeholders, including maintaining open lines of communication with core offices, leading focus groups, presenting demonstrations, providing training, gathering feedback, identifying users to pilot new features, and communicating changes to the user base.
* Responsible for the creation and implementation of new business process and technology solutions within the current finance system and applications. Collaborate with functional users and Information Technology staff to find solutions to business process problems identified in consultation with Cloud ERP implementation teams to analyze impact to current and future state systems.
* Lead design and provide continued support for Finance reporting packages and reports. Develop and test end user and management reports for day-to-day management and other reports for strategic management of university resources.

Support various other Finance needs 15%
* Work with auditors and management on information requests. Often involves creating new reports, writing complex SQL queries, performing data validations, summarizing large amounts of data, and providing analysis.
* Work with the Controller's Office staff on implementing new accounting guidance and incorporating into the ERP.
* Assist as needed to solve routine to complex problems within and outside of Finance Information Systems, taking a new perspective on existing solutions and using technical expertise/tools when necessary.
Procurement Functions Delivery 5%
* Lead the Procurement function delivery.

As with all positions, involvement with other duties and responsibilities may be expected in order to support the mission and purpose of the University of Missouri System.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 7 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting
Strong analytical and organizational skills.
Ability to prioritize and be self-motivated.
Understanding of governmental accounting standards.
Leadership experience in oversight and delivery of enterprise software applications.
Experience with working collaboratively with information technology staff and key financial leaders in understanding business processes, developing software design, and supporting end users.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $100,000-$135,000 annually
Grade: GGS-014
