THE POSITION

In this role, you will perform the full range of building inspection and enforcement for compliance with the UCC and other applicable state laws and regulations as part of our UCC Inspection District #1 East team serving Montgomery, Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, and Delaware County, Pennsylvania. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will be responsible for performing building and structural inspections and enforcement work to ensure compliance with the Uniform Construction Code (UCC) and other applicable state laws and regulations. Work involves:

  • Inspecting construction of commercial buildings for conformance with approved plans.
  • Conferring with contractors, design professionals, and building owners concerning deficiencies.
  • Suggesting corrective action involving building deficiencies.
  • Preparing detailed inspection reports
  • Travelling to inspection sites in remote locations

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: This position is home headquartered. In order to be home headquartered, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Three years of experience inspecting commercial, industrial, or other public use buildings for compliance with building and safety codes; or
  • Four years of building construction work which included the performance of skilled trades duties in the electrical, structural, plumbing, or mechanical trades; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • You must possess a valid certification issued by the Department of Labor and Industry, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as an Accessibility Inspector/Plan Examiner, Building Inspector, Electrical Inspector, Mechanical Inspector, Plumbing Inspector, and Energy Inspector.

Conditions of Employment:

  • You must possess a valid PA non-commercial Class C driver's license or equivalent.

Other Requirements:

  • You must reside in or be willing to relocate to Montgomery, Philadelphia, Bucks, Chester, or Delaware County before the date of hire.
