As a Communications Coordinator, you'll join the Athletics Department's communications team and play a key role in shaping how Duke Athletics is seen, heard, and experienced-by fans, media, and the broader Duke community.
You'll collaborate with passionate colleagues, student-athletes, and campus partners to tell compelling stories that reflect Duke's tradition of excellence, innovation, and impact.

What You'll Do:

  • Manage daily communications responsibilities for assigned Duke Athletics programs
  • Produce media guides, game notes, news releases, and feature stories
  • Create feature content and original coverage for GoDuke.com, the official website of Duke Athletics
  • Respond to media inquiries and support proactive media outreach
  • Staff home events and selected away competitions
  • Supervise statistical crews and other event support personnel
  • Participate in assigned sports' creative working groups
  • Compile and manage statistics, including researching historical records for Athletics publications
  • Support the broader communications staff with additional departmental needs as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills
  • Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word, and NCAA Live Stats
  • Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Two years of experience in media relations, communications, public relations, or a related field supporting sports information activities

Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills normally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.


Experience

Work generally requires one year experience in advertising, marketing, media, promotions, public relations or a related field to acquire skills necessary to implement a variety of sports information activities. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $44,766.00 to USD $71,706.00. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
