We are seeking a collaborative and detail-oriented Designer to join our high-performing Design Systems team. In this role, you will contribute to the Reveille design system, applying human-centered and systems design to create seamless experiences for our members.

You will work in a data-informed, agile environment, moving from discovery and ideation to prototyping and delivery. We are looking for a designer who is passionate about the "why" behind the "what"-understanding the nuances of different platforms while ensuring the brand is applied consistently and effectively through established conventions and design tokens.

Key Responsibilities

  • System Contribution: Create, document, and maintain design assets and specifications within the Reveille design system, leveraging interaction, visual, and content design competencies.
  • Platform Alignment: Design for both iOS and Android, sticking closely to native platform conventions while integrating brand-specific requirements.
  • Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with stakeholders and developers to ensure work meets business requirements and technical feasibility.
  • Research & Synthesis: Support member-focused research and synthesize findings to drive design directions that align with user needs.
  • Quality & Compliance: Participate in design reviews and critiques; ensure all designs meet usability and accessibility best practices as well as risk and compliance standards.
  • Prototyping: Build functional prototypes to test concepts and communicate design intent to engineering teams.

Required Experience & Skills

  • Core Experience: 2+ years of on-the-job experience in Product Design, UX Design, or Service Design (applicants with slightly less than 2 years but with strong military or CS backgrounds/inclinations are encouraged to apply).
  • Design Systems Mastery: Proven experience working with style guides, component libraries, and complex design systems.
  • Technical Proficiency: Advanced skills in Figma, including modern features such as variables and design tokens.
  • Platform Knowledge: * Native: Understanding of iOS and Android platform conventions and the nuances between them.

    • Web: Understanding of responsive design, modern web technologies (CSS flexbox/grid), and mobile web patterns.

  • Soft Skills: Must be open, expressive, and engaging. We value designers who are non-dogmatic, kind, and excel in a highly collaborative team environment.
  • Portfolio: A strong portfolio demonstrating attention to detail, systemic thinking, and a history of delivering digital products.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Computer Science Background: A foundational understanding of the technical side of product development.
  • Military Background: We highly value the unique perspective and discipline brought by those with military experience.
  • Accessibility: Solid understanding of WCAG best practices and inclusive design.
