Wieland is hiring a Mobile Equipment Operator II. The Mobile Equipment Operator II will be responsible for sit-down forklift and/or other material handling equipment as part of the distribution process within a fast-paced warehouse setting. The ideal candidate should have proven forklift driving experience, require little supervision, demonstrate initiative, and have extreme attention to detail. This candidate must also be able to work within a team environment, be organized and flexible, able to work on multiple tasks. This role is located in Granite City, IL, and will be fully on-site.

Hourly Pay Range: $20/hr - $22/hr

Work Schedule: Mon - Fri 7:00 am - 3:30 pm

Pay Schedule: Weekly

Responsibilities

Mobile Equipment Operator II Responsibilities:

    Safely maneuver motorized material handling equipment in accordance with company health and safety regulations.
  • Ensuring all equipment is maintained and used in accordance with company health and safety regulations and reporting service requests as needed.
  • Ensuring equipment is properly positioned before turning it on and off or loading and unloading it.
  • Safely select product with high degree of accuracy.
  • Willingness to follow direction of department leader(s).
  • Collaborate with other departments to achieve company goals.
  • Proficiency in material placement within color code system.
  • Efficiently moves and loads product from staging and/or storage areas into trailers.
  • Ensures material collected corresponds with invoice, material weight, item number, lot number, purity, quantity, and ensures special packaging requirements are completed.
  • Follow load placement procedures in shipping containers and trailers to ensure weight distribution and load patterning for safe shipping of product.
  • Prepares and ensures recycled products are packaged according to carrier specifications and regulations.
  • Perform routine inspection of work area to ensure sites are kept clean and safe.
  • Properly follow company and OSHA safety procedures. Bring problems to the attention of the Supervisor, Safety, or HR.
  • Follow Daily Procedures & Protocols as set forth in job orientations and training.
  • Attending meetings and refresher courses to ensure responsible equipment operation.
  • Flexibility to perform General Laborer tasks as required.
  • Participate daily with general housekeeping of warehouse and work area.
  • Other duties assigned with flexibility to work in other departments as needed.

Mobile Equipment Operator II Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of hazards and safety precautions common to forklift operations.
  • Adherence to health and safety regulations - Ability to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to work or visit within areas where it is required. Hard hat, safety glasses, respirators, earplugs, steel-toed shoes, gloves, full body harnesses, or other protective equipment as required by the location and work performed. Some tasks may require work in confined spaces.
  • Use of a respirator may be required for certain tasks. Must be medically cleared, fit-tested, and qualified to wear a respirator when applicable. Must maintain appropriate personal grooming to ensure an effective respirator seal.
  • Ability to read and understand packaging and shipping documents.
  • Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency.
  • Demonstrate good judgment and ask questions as needed.
  • Attentive to detail and alert at all times to ensure safety.
  • Maintains safety as high priority in all aspects of responsibility.
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in operating skid steer, specifically utilizing bucket and push ram attachment.

  • Periods of standing, walking, negotiating stairs, ladders, elevated catwalks, and platforms.
  • Walking over uneven and/or slippery surfaces.
  • Exposure to production environments that are not temperature-controlled.
  • Manual dexterity for handling and manipulating items, samples, and tools.
  • Vision abilities, including close vision, color vision, and focus adjustment.
  • Ability to stand, balance, walk, and reach for extended periods.
  • Occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch.
  • Sit for extended period of times.
  • Stand for extended periods, walk, and reach with hands or arms.
  • Use hands and fingers to handle, touch or manipulate items.
  • Stoop, reach, kneel, twist, and walk while handling cases of product.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently.
