Target hiring range for this position will be between $89,129-$111,411 per year. Offered salary will be determined by the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. Job Summary: The Department of Medical Social Sciences (MSS; www.mss.northwestern.edu) is a leader in advancing and applying outcomes/effectiveness research to improve patient care and influence policy. We support the National Institutes of Health's state-of-the-science patient-reported outcome measurement systems under the HealthMeasures (www.healthmeasures.net) umbrella. Our HealthMeasures team consists of measurement scientists with expertise developing, validating, and implementing patient-reported outcome measures. We are seeking a dynamic Project Manager to join the HealthMeasures team. This role will manage scientific projects that advance our measurement systems. The position will oversee these initiatives from conception through implementation, ensuring that advancements are properly integrated into our systems and effectively communicated to users and the scientific community. The ideal candidate will bring strong scientific understanding along with exceptional project management skills to advance our measurement tools and enhance coordination across technical and scientific teams. Specific Responsibilities:
- Lead and coordinate research and development focused on enhancing HealthMeasures assessments and tools
- Serve as the liaison between research scientists, stakeholders, and operational teams to ensure alignment of objectives with user needs
- Manage cross-functional collaboration to translate scientific findings into practical applications
- Manage the development and dissemination of scientific publications, presentations, and educational materials
- Collaborate with the marketing team to create user-friendly documentation, website content, and training materials that effectively communicate complex measurement concepts
- Track project milestones, deliverables, and resource allocation across multiple simultaneous initiatives
- Identify opportunities for innovation and improvement within the HealthMeasures ecosystem
- Develop new skills as needed to meet team demands
Strategic Planning
- Coordinate and track the initiation, planning, execution, monitoring/controlling and closing of Informatics, Information Technology (IT) and related virtual and physical infrastructure projects in support of organizational area's strategic objectives and ongoing operations.
- Interacts with project leadership to determine and document project objectives, scope, functional requirements, metrics, key performance indicators and stakeholders.
- Collaborates with technical lead to determine resource requirements, budget, and deliverables
Administration
- Coordinates projects for selected clients; administers and maintains project management tools, assists in planning, estimating and scheduling project work and supports monitoring and reporting of project progress.
- Tracks initiation and execution of software development or implementation and upgrade of several concurrent projects.
- Collaborates with technical lead to determine project timelines and scope, in cooperation with senior staff.
- Writes reports and proposals.
- Communicates project status, decisions, updates, revisions and changes to all stakeholders facilitating decision-making and project progress.
- Administers and maintains organizational area's project management tool, assists in planning, estimating and scheduling project work and supports monitoring and reporting of project progress
Development
- Performs research for future potential IT services and applications; investigates and compares alternative applications and vendors.
- Develops and maintains organizational area's document repository.
Performance
- Collaborates with the functional teams to construct, update and track multiple project schedules and facilitates issue identification and resolution.
Supervises
- Provides work direction for project team members, subordinates, contractors, vendors, students, etc.
- Communicates with technical leads regarding performance of staff assigned to projects.
Miscellaneous Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications:
Advanced degree (PhD or Master's) in health sciences, psychometrics, or related field Demonstrated experience in scientific project management and stakeholder engagement Experience with scientific dissemination through both academic channels and applied formats
