McGraw Hill, the leading provider of digital and print educational resources, is looking for aBusiness Intelligence Developer.The Business Intelligence Developer in Data & Analytics is responsible for supporting McGraw-Hill Education's (MHE) business intelligence and data services capabilities to provide actionable, timely information to drive accurate financial reporting, performance monitoring and facilitate business decisions. The position requires hands-on duties with an emphasis on developing dynamic reporting solutions to be successful.

Our traditional BI/DW technology stack includes Oracle Exadata, Informatica and Business Objects. We have also made significant investments in advanced analytical tools including Tableau, Alteryx.

This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States. While this position is remote, preference will be given to candidates based in the Eastern Time Zone.

What you will be doing:

  • Design, develop, and administer Alteryx workflows and Tableau dashboards to deliver actionable insights across the enterprise.

  • Administer Tableau Server and Alteryx Server/Gallery environments - including installation, upgrades, user/permission management, content governance, performance tuning, and monitoring.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across Alteryx workflows, Tableau workbooks/data sources, and underlying data connections; apply patches, hotfixes, and version upgrades.

  • Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications for Alteryx workflows, Tableau dashboards, and other BI solutions.

  • Develop clear documentation for functional designs, technical designs, and administration runbooks (server architecture, backup/restore, DR, and SOPs).

  • Collaborate with business users, developers, and IT peers to ensure successful delivery, deployment, and adoption of Alteryx and Tableau solutions in production.

  • Monitor platform health and usage, optimize workflow/dashboard performance, and drive best practices for scalable, secure, and high-quality Alteryx and Tableau deployments.

We're looking for someone with:

  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.

  • At least 3 years of combined experience developing AND administering BI/Analytics solutions, with hands-on time on both Alteryx and Tableau.

  • Handson development AND administration expertise in Alteryx (Designer, Server/Gallery) and Tableau (Desktop, Server/Cloud) - including workflow/dashboard development, server installation, upgrades, scheduling, user/permission management, and content governance.

  • Working knowledge of Informatica/IICS, Oracle PL/SQL, strong SQL skills, and understanding of relational databases, dimensional modeling, and data warehouse frameworks (Kimball/Inmon).

  • Proficiency in Python and/or Scala for data scripting, custom Alteryx tools/macros, and transformation logic; familiarity with Databricks is a plus.

  • Experience integrating Oracle EBusiness Suite or similar ERP systems with Tableau, Alteryx, or other BI/reporting tools.

  • Familiarity with cloud computing architectures (AWS, Azure, or similar), including hosting and scaling Tableau Server/Cloud and Alteryx Server in cloud environments.

  • Exposure to data governance best practices and Salesforce/Marketo data objects.

  • Experience managing the software development lifecycle, from requirements through implementation.

  • Previous background in Education, Publishing, or Media industries (preferred, not required).

The pay range for this position is between $82,150.00 - $120,000 annually. However, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and location.An annual bonus plan may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and/or other benefits, depending on the position offered.
