The Fellow would join the Department of Environmental and Occupational Health within the University of California, Irvine's Wen School of Population & Public Health and work closely with Dr. Lincoln on a variety of projects that examine the effects of environmental and social determinants on population health and well-being. This is expected to be a 2-year appointment, contingent on performance and funding availability.

Background: The Postdoctoral Fellow will have opportunities to contribute to multiple projects that apply quantitative, qualitative and community-based participatory research methods to a variety of primary and secondary data sources, depending on interests. Among other projects, the team is currently examining the impacts of environmental and social determinants on brain health among middle-aged and older adults. We are examining facilitators and barriers to participation in clinical research among hardly reached communities. We are also examining the role of chronic stress, pain, doctor-patient interactions, and proinflammatory cytokines in sleep health and cognitive impairment in Black Americans. There will be opportunities for the Postdoctoral Fellow to both collaborate and lead on papers related to these and other research topics, as well as to propose project ideas that could be accomplished with the available data resources. The Postdoctoral Fellow is also expected to take advantage of the many professional development resources available at UCI (e.g., colloquia, workshops, training, pilot funding) to develop a research career. Funding for conference travel and professional development is available. The start date for this appointment is negotiable but is anticipated to be in Summer or Fall, 2026.
