STV Incorporated has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic Structural Engineer Director for its Owings Mills, MD location. The ideal candidate is an experienced transportation professional with strong technical design background and a desire to lead teams, interact with clients, and mentor junior staff. This position will focus on rail and transit infrastructure as well as highway/railroad bridges and facilities structures. As a Structural Engineer Director, you'll be expected to perform as a seller/doer, with duties consisting of performing structural design, managing project delivery, resource planning, assisting in business development and mentoring junior staff. This position will be designated as hybrid where you will be expected to be in your designated office 3 of the 5 days per week. One of those days must be a Monday or Friday.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Lead and manager transportation & infrastructure planning through design into construction.

  • Develop project scope, budget, scheduled and cost estimates.

  • Work closely with other project managers and group leads to plan resources and manager internal workshare.

  • Assist in developing capture and win plans, proposals, and other business development activities as required.

  • Ability to meet with client and public stakeholders and perform site visits in the field as necessary, building relationships.

  • Willingness and ability to lead or assist in the development of standard design templates to streamline and improve design consistency and quality.

  • Represent the company at industry events, conferences and networking forums to enhance the company's visibility within transportation & infrastructure.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including engineering teams, business development, and marketing teams to develop and implement strategies for growth.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering required (Master's preferred)

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required

  • 20+ years of progressive experience.

  • Knowledge of structures design for both bridges and ancillary structures

  • Analysis and load rating of existing bridges

  • Design calculations, develop plan details, quantity takeoffs, specification writing and other technical reporting.

  • Strong project management, leadership and communication skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced consulting environment.

  • Familiarity with Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) standards and local agency processes is highly desirable.

  • Experience in proposal development, bid management, and contract negotiation.

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, with the ability to motivate and inspire cross-functional teams.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a results-oriented mindset.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Compensation Range:

$216,122.98 - $240,136.64
