Position Overview

This position is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care focused on the treatment and prevention of illness and injury among youth in a structured care environment. The Registered Nurse plays a critical role in supporting health, safety, and wellness through direct clinical care, education, and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide healthcare services for the treatment and/or prevention of illnesses and injuries
  • Perform admission physical assessments
  • Conduct sick call and ongoing patient assessments
  • Administer medications and oversee medication management
  • Implement physician treatment orders
  • Provide medication administration and counseling to juveniles
  • Train and oversee Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAPs) in medication administration and healthcare tasks
  • Prepare medical discharge summaries
  • Provide emergency medical services as needed
  • Communicate healthcare information to interdisciplinary teams regarding patient health status
  • Maintain accurate healthcare and data reports
  • Provide health related training and education to staff

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (Required)

Applicants must clearly document experience in all of the following areas:



  • Leading a team, including delegation of UAP and subordinate healthcare tasks
  • Providing feedback, coaching, and guidance to nursing staff and UAPs regarding patient care
  • Independently implementing the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation)
  • Making clinical judgments based on facts and sound reasoning with organized, reflective, and inquisitive thinking
  • Working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams to provide timely, organized, and methodical healthcare services
  • Teaching and training staff through orientation, on the job training, and preceptorship
  • Using effective interview techniques to assess patient symptoms and needs
  • Communicating clearly and concisely with patients, families, and staff both verbally and in writing


Preferred Experience

  • Nursing experience in adolescent, pediatric, school, or public health settings


Minimum Education and Licensure Requirements

  • Current licensure as a Registered Nurse
  • Eligible and authorized to practice nursing within the applicable state regulatory requirements
