Purchasing Value Optimization Specialist

The Commodity Value Optimization Specialist job responsibilities include but not limited to:



  • Manage Full Value Optimization responsibilities for assigned Direct Material Commodity areas within Serial Life
  • Coordination responsibility for any cost impact as a result of Purchasing Performance or Powertrain specific reduction or over-recovery
  • Ownership of assigned commodity supplier value optimization across full NA scope
  • Close coordination with ongoing Program actions to drive efficiencies and optimization of Serial Life production
  • Advanced understanding of supplier input into cost reduction activities
  • Working knowledge of program critical parameters into supplier selection process and management
  • Support technical costreduction initiatives by partnering with crossfunctional teams, including Product Development, Planning, Brand, etc.
  • Review and interpret costsavings models and implementation spreadsheets to validate accuracy and impact.
  • Evaluate suppliersubmitted technical costreduction proposals for feasibility, risk, and alignment with product requirements.


Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor Degree in Engineering or related fields
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in related field
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong relationships
  • Must be well organized, self-motivated, capable of managing conflict, and resourceful when managing complex assignments
  • Must be comfortable and excel in a fast-paced environment
  • Results oriented and ability to lead cross-functional and global teams in issue resolution
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to think and act strategically
  • Strong communication skills required; must be comfortable interfacing with all levels of management
  • Customer focus and Strong knowledge of business processes across group purchasing


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Master's Degree
  • Engineering Degree and/or Experience
  • Prior Value Optimization (VO) Experience
