Inventory & Lab Technician (Fastener & Joint Testing) - Fremont, CA

Pay: $22-28/hour (depending on experience)

Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Inventory and Lab Test Technician to support parts inventory management and laboratory testing activities in a hands-on technical environment. This role is responsible for managing incoming and outgoing parts, maintaining accurate inventory records, and assisting with torque and fastener testing within the lab. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn. The majority of the work will focus on inventory operations while supporting lab testing as training progresses.

Key Responsibilities

Parts Inventory and Logistics (70-80%)



  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming pallets and parcels against shipping documentation
  • Manage shipping and receiving processes and maintain accurate inventory records
  • Perform physical inventory checks and update inventory tracking systems
  • Ensure parts are properly organized and staged to support lab testing operations
  • Maintain steady flow of parts to the lab to support testing schedules and backlog reduction
  • Operate material handling equipment such as electronic pallet stackers (forklift experience is a plus)


Lab Testing Support (20-30%)



  • Assist with torque failure testing of fastened joints using DC tools and automated torque wrenches
  • Support troubleshooting of mechanical assemblies and testing equipment
  • Record, analyze, and report test data using standard documentation processes
  • Assist engineers and technicians with hands-on testing and analysis activities


Documentation and Reporting



  • Maintain testing and inventory records using Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Document results, findings, and test procedures using collaboration platforms such as Jira, Confluence, and SharePoint


Qualifications



  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical teams
  • Ability to learn quickly and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Logistics or inventory experience preferred but not required
  • Comfortable working with shop tools, hand tools, and mechanical components
  • Automotive or mechanical experience (working on vehicles, tools, fasteners) is a plus
  • Basic understanding of testing concepts such as material properties, friction, tensile strength, or elongation is helpful but not required
  • Forklift or pallet stacker experience is a plus


Work Environment



  • Hands-on technical environment involving both warehouse and laboratory work
  • Requires standing, lifting, and handling parts and tools throughout the day


Schedule



  • Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM
  • Overtime opportunities available

This is an entry-level role ideal for someone with inventory or logistics experience and a strong interest in automotive or mechanical work. Success in this role will be measured by attention to detail, reliability, and the ability to maintain a steady flow of parts to support laboratory testing operations.
