The School of Music has an opening for a Production Specialist II (Audio Production Coordinator). This position plays a critical role working with Faculty, Staff, Students, and the Community. If you are quality orientated individual, with strong external and internal customer service skills, and are able to handle a fast-paced ever-changing environment, while maintaining a positive attitude; we welcome you to apply for the position and join our team. The successful candidate, will have prior communication, and problem-solving skills and must communicate clearly and effectively to a variety of audiences, both verbally and in writing. This position will process a multitude of tasks including but not limited to: supporting all elements for full production of performances, including sound, lighting, visual effects, and/or computer-aided design. They will provide technical and instructional support to faculty and students, as needed; and will support all different concert, recitals, and events the school participates in. While this position is expected to support audio, video, and lighting coordination, depending on the level of expertise, the ideal candidate should have fluency in audio reinforcement in both live and recording situations . The Audio Production Coordinator will also need to partner and help support the daily program operations with the business/student related functions of the school. | Duties & Responsibilities |
- Coordinates and executes stage and equipment set up.
- Coordinates planning and scheduling of equipment and production area maintenance, including participation in the development and implementation of routine maintenance schedules.
- May assist with general building projects as needed.
- Coordinates with artists or production representatives and reads contracts to ascertain needs for the production; determines feasibility, and makes arrangements for special staging, rental equipment, special effects, parking and security.
- Monitors budgets for assigned events and advises appropriate parties when expenditures approach established limits.
- Consults with renters/performers to coordinate production ideas and provide advice regarding feasibility of ideas
- Provides training for student workers and event crew.
- Provides mentorship for new hires and supports continuing training for existing crew.
- Train, supervise, and evaluate the activities of student workers.
- Assists in determining staffing needs and scheduling crews for events.
- Oversees and maintains inventory on all items and equipment; participates in ordering or orders supplies.
- Performs safety checks on equipment and facilities ensuring safety guidelines are being met.
- Conducts backstage tours as required
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift a a maximum of 50 pounds, standing, sitting, bending, repetitive hand motion for long periods of time that may include any of the following:
- Movement and set up of stage scenery/equipment
- Retrieval and set up of staircases and platform systems,
- Movement and set up of instruments (including grand pianos, etc.),
- Transportation of equipments/instruments throughout the greater Tucson area,
- Climbing stairs and ladders that may be at height,Squatting/lifting to load and unload equipment, etc.

- Ability to maintain a professional demeanor high stress situations high-level and professional focus.

| Minimum Qualifications |
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through professional level experience required.
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience.

| Preferred Qualifications |
- Experience configuring and operating a digital or analog audio console with at least 16 concurrent mic/line inputs & 8 concurrent outputs.
- Experience with MS office applications (Minimum: Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with QLab or Vectorworks.
- Vocational or technical training in video or post-production
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience with supervising employees
- Experience with video signal flow and troubleshooting
- Experience operating a computerized lighting console to control multiple universes of conventional and intelligent lighting.
