The Opportunity

While the current focus of this position is Physics, the successful candidate should be prepared to teach other sciences as needed. This role involves leading instruction across college-preparatory and honors/AP sections, designing engaging, lab-rich lessons, differentiating for diverse learners, and contributing to the spiritual, academic, and co-curricular life of the school.

Key Responsibilities



  • Teach sections of Physics, AP Physics and possibly another science course.
  • Plan and deliver inquiry-based lessons aligned to State standards, school curriculum, and AP standards
  • Design and supervise safe, hands-on laboratory and investigative experiences; maintain lab inventory and safety protocols across disciplines
  • Use formative and summative assessments to inform instruction and provide timely, standards-aligned feedback
  • Integrate technology (data collection probes, simulations, modeling tools, LMS/gradebook)
  • Differentiate instruction and support students with varied backgrounds and abilities
  • Collaborate with science colleagues on vertical alignment, common assessments, and lab safety
  • Serve as an advisor and participate in chapel, community events, and co-curricular life
  • Pursue ongoing professional development and contribute to a positive school culture
  • Support the school's Christian mission in word and deed; model a life of faith and integrity.
  • Intentionally integrate faith and learning by embedding Biblical concepts into lessons.
  • Maintain accurate academic records and proactively communicate with students and families about progress, concerns, and celebrations.
  • Model Christian character and shepherd students with care, consistency, and integrity


What You Bring



  • As a Christian independent school affiliated with the Churches of Christ, Lipscomb Academy seeks faculty who can support and model the school's mission and values. Candidates should be willing to participate in spiritual life activities and mentor students in faith and character.
  • Bachelor's degree in a laboratory-based science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) or Science Education grades 9-12
  • Valid state teaching certification in secondary science
  • Demonstrated success teaching high school physics (student teaching accepted)
  • Proficiency with lab preparation and safety procedures (OSHA/ACS/AACT-aligned practices)
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Proficiency with Schoology and Google Workspace; comfort with formative assessment tools
  • Ability and willingness to teach two of the three disciplines when needed (Bio/Chem/Physics)


Preferred Qualifications



  • Master's degree in a science field or Science Education
  • Experience teaching Honors/AP in any of the disciplines, physics preferred, and preparing students for AP exams
  • Experience with Vernier/PASCO probeware, simulations/modeling platforms, and standards-based assessment
  • Training in differentiated instruction and literacy-in-science strategies
  • Commitment to integrating a Christian worldview within rigorous academic instruction
