Job Description




As a Security Officer - Unarmed Gatehouse Rounds in Brooklyn, NY, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Shelter, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer at a shelter location, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, complete routine rounds, and stay visible to help reduce security-related incidents. You will support access control, assist staff and guests with clear communication and customer service, and document concerns and observations. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and/or emergency response activities appropriate for a shelter location.
  • Respond to incidents, resident and/or visitor concerns, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, escalating to site leadership and/or emergency services as needed.
  • Conduct regular and random foot patrols throughout the facility, common areas, and perimeter to help to deter unwanted activity and identify hazards or maintenance concerns.
  • Monitor access points and property grounds, observe and report suspicious behavior, and document activity using written reports and/or electronic reporting systems.
  • Support staff with de-escalation and respectful rule enforcement, assist with orderly movement within the site, and follow established protocols for prohibited items and/or disruptive behavior.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A state, county, or city issued security license is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • CPR and/or First Aid is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
