What you will do
Role Overview:

The Construction Lead Expert is responsible for managing the construction of company-owned assets by third-party contractors and ensuring successful results, which includes the operational and financial performance of projects. This role will work closely with other project stakeholders to align the development and execution of the organization's long-term and short-term plans.

Main responsibilities:

  • Responsible to ensure project adherence to safety, quality, and budget while bringing the project to completion within the designated set timeline
  • Understand the project development process, including, regulatory, permitting, and the local utility requirements
  • Develop Project scope, budget, and timelines
  • Co-ordinate with internal team functions for project Engineering, Procurement, and Construction
  • Oversight and interpretation of general engineering drawings
  • Scope and assist the Construction Manager in the management of construction contractors for various project execution steps, including management of contracts with external consultants and contractors
  • Coordination with contractors, equipment suppliers, consultants, municipalities, and regulatory authorities as needed
  • Conduct site visits (min 1x/month) to ensure project are built acording to issued IFC packages and C2 Energy Capitals' quality standards
  • Measure and report project performance using appropriate tools and techniques
  • Report project progress against baseline (safety, schedule, cost, quality) to management on a weekly basis
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks
  • Report and escalate risks and issues to management as needed
  • Manage the relationship with landlords and all other project stakeholders
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
  • Meet budgetary objectives and adjust project constraints based on financial analysis and approvals
  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation
  • Ensure all project closure with complete documentation, Co-ordinate Handover Takeover with respective stakeholders
  • Develop effective relationships with contractors and suppliers
  • Develop effective and supportive relationships with colleagues
  • Lead, manage, and supervise assigned staff
  • Additional duties as required

What are we looking for
Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a project management capacity
  • Minimum 5 years experience managing rooftop solar PV projects at least 500kWdc and FT/SAT ground-mount projects at least 3MWdc
  • PMP certification is desirable, but not required
  • Candidates with a combination of office and construction field experience are desirable
  • Understanding of Microsoft projects and/or complementing products (Preferred)
  • Competency in Analytical Problem Solving, Strong Communication, Customer/Partner Relationships, and Technology Expertise (Preferred)

Behavioral Requirements:

  • Ability to manage multiple projects
  • Ability to read and review engineering drawings to identify constructability or scope issues
  • Ability to review and track CPM schedule progress, ensuring adherence to define milestones
  • Ability to strictly follow, implement and enforce processes
  • Demonstrated ability to hold all project stakeholders accountable for their deliverables in a proactive manner
  • Excellent organization, verbal and written communication skills
  • Exercises independent judgment within generally defined boundaries
  • Proven track record of negotiation with construction vendors
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite, Procore, Bluebeam, and Smartsheets. General working knowledge of Microsoft Project/Primavera is desirable
  • Must be able to obtain a valid driver's license as this position may require travel by car

Physical demands & working conditions:

  • Sitting/Standing/Flexibility: Ability to stand and sit for 8 or more hours when in an office environment
  • Walking: Ability to walk .5 to 2 miles per day, including across unpaved and rough surfaces when on project sites.
  • Speech/Reading: Ability to speak, read, and write English proficiently and deliver a variety of instructions furnished in written verbal, diagram, or scheduled form
  • Lifting: Ability to lift items weighing up to 10 pounds
  • Vision/Hearing: Ability to understand a variety of instructions furnished in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form
