UC San Diego Health is a Magnet designated organization, which is a prestigious recognition that applies to only 10% of all U.S. hospitals. Magnet is the "gold standard" for nursing excellence and is based on strengths in five key areas, which include transformational leadership, structural empowerment, exemplary professional practice, new knowledge, innovation and improvements and empirical outcomes. UC San Diego Health has held its Magnet status since 2011. The Koman Family Outpatient Pavilion is an outpatient clinical facility on UC San Diego Health's La Jolla campus. The facility includes eight surgery suites, basic and advanced imaging, physical therapy and pain management - plus infusion and apheresis services. The four-floor, 156,000-square-foot facility opened in March of 2018. This is a urology clinical/triage nurse position at the Koman Outpatient Pavilion Urology Center, working primarily with patients in medical and surgical oncology. The position focuses on care coordination and management of oncology patients. The RN will also be responsible for direct patient care in the clinic setting in addition to clinical triage, EPIC in-basket management, and direct communication with Providers. This RN will also provide coverage for sick calls and vacations for the urology nursing team. The RN needs strong communication skills and a strong ability to multitask to collaborate and coordinate with all urology healthcare teams, ensuring optimal care for patients and families. Autonomous nursing care is the ability of a nurse to assess and provide nursing actions as appropriate for patient care populations based on competence, professional expertise, and knowledge. The nurse is expected to practice autonomously consistent with ANA Standards of Practice and Professional Performance. Independent judgment is expected to be exercised within the context of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary approaches to patient care. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
