What to Expect

The Sensing Hardware Team is seekingan electrical engineer specializing inHW integration of wireless systems with 3+ years of industry experience. This role will primarily focus oncabin integrationof radar-basedin-cabin sensing technologiesfor safetyandwellnessfeatures.

You will serve as the technical anchor for the system, driving cross-functional decision-making that bridges the gap between hardware and software. The role demands high-level judgment to translate complex system interactions into clear, safety-first requirements. You will drivecomponentdesigns from concept through implementation, defining validation strategies, and conducting system testing. The candidate willbe responsible forhelping to integrate sensing hardware onto Tesla vehicles. This includes defining and executing tests to understand how configuration, hardware, and software changes affect the overall performance of the system.

What You'll Do
  • Integrate, test, andvalidatenew hardware and software related to vehicle sensors, with a focus on radar or wireless systems

  • Debugand triage sensorhardwareintegration problems discovered during early phases of vehicle development and work toidentifythe root cause and then to help implement andvalidatefixes

  • Distill sensor product requirementsfor different platformsinto constraints and actionable engineering systemsspecs

  • Lead cross-functional sensor design discussions with electrical, software, antenna design, EMC, reliability, thermal, and mechanical, supply chainandmanufacturingteams

  • Support early sensor prototype development to de-risk modern technologies

  • Drive the validation of RF systems on newly introduced platforms; this includescoming up withsetups for validation in lab for both EE and RF metrics, engineering tests in the car, etc. and generate/execute the test plan that includes milestones that focus on de-risking product and/or feature deployment and align with the program timeline

  • Ensure the hardware meets required design criteria across a host of environments and regulations while collaborating with the reliability, testand homologation teams and interface with 3rd party vendors and suppliers and drive the suppliers to meet Tesla's performance and timeline targets

  • Workwith manufacturing/test teams and supplierstoachieve high-volume mass production with high yield

What You'll Bring
  • Strong foundationin both hardware and software fundamentals with ability to bridge electrical schematics and firmware architecture

  • Ability to read electrical schematics and use lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, multimeters) for bring-up and troubleshooting

  • Ability to design simple automation tools, test scripts, or parsers to improve bring-up and validation efficiency and proficiencyin data visualization and analysis tools (MATLAB, Python, etc.) to drive engineering decisions

  • Strong knowledge of one or more topics among embedded systems, such as microcontroller architecture, interfacese.g.SPI, I2C, vehicle communication networks (CAN, Ethernet), power converters, ability to expand into other topics and integrate these systems is paramount

  • Experience with Power Management for sensing HW. Knowledge ofdcdcconverters, LDOs for supply management on complex boards

  • Experience with safety-critical systems, functional safety concepts, or automotive validation processes, preferred

  • Knowledge of RF hardware design or antenna characterization preferred

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and use AI tools for engineering tasks, including requirement generation, codeassistance, and data synthesis

  • Bias toward incremental progress, systematic problem-solving, and explicit risk-based decision making.Exceptional critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills and you must be able to lead through influence and judgment

  • Debugging experience with wireless radio systems at the conducted or radiated level
