United States, California, San Diego
Apr 25, 2026
About the Organization
Now is a great time to join Redhorse Corporation. We are a solution-driven company delivering data insights and technology solutions to customers with missions critical to U.S. national interests. We're looking for thoughtful, skilled professionals who thrive as trusted partners building technology-agnostic solutions and want to apply their talents supporting customers with difficult and important mission sets.
About the Role

Redhorse transforms the way government uses data and technology. To support this mission, we are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Naval Special Warfare (NSW) team as a Technical Advisor for Unmanned Systems (UxS). In this high-priority role, you will drive innovation for the UxS autonomy and interoperability program, directly impacting Special Operations Forces (SOF) mission profiles.

This role is focused on technical advisory, strategy, and engineering best practices rather than "hands-on keyboard" development. You will be at the forefront of integrating cutting-edge autonomous capabilities and AI/ML at the tactical edge, shaping the enterprise architecture and ensuring the delivery of Responsible AI (RAI) compliant software. If you want to influence the technical direction of groundbreaking, real-world national security initiatives for autonomous vehicles and embedded systems, this is the role for you.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical guidance and oversight for code reviews, deployments, and CI/CD/DevOps pipeline strategy.
  • Define and shape software requirements for AI products, focusing on software architectures, APIs, frameworks, and libraries.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the integration of software into embedded systems and autonomous vehicle platforms.
  • Lead the development of requirements for autonomous software and guide the evolution of enterprise architecture.
  • Advise on the employment of AI/ML at the tactical edge to support and enhance SOF operations.
  • Assess the performance, scalability, and security of proposed technologies within the UxS architecture.
  • Formulate and implement strategies for rapid prototyping and deployment of AI capabilities.
  • Establish and maintain engineering best practices and common libraries to be used across diverse technical teams.

Required Experience/Clearance

  • Active Top Secret (TS) security clearance.
  • 8+ years of professional experience in software engineering or technical architecture.
  • Proven experience in the development or integration of software for embedded systems, with a strong preference for autonomous vehicle platforms.
  • Technical experience architecting and delivering complex software projects involving multiple modules, APIs, data integration, and algorithm stacks.
  • Experience building and deploying software specifically for edge capabilities or tactical environments.
  • Demonstrated expertise in establishing and guiding industry-standard CI/CD and DevOps practices.
  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., Python, C++, Go, or Rust) to facilitate technical advisory and architectural reviews.

Desired Experience

  • Experience with technologies such as Databricks or Spark to analyze or train models using large datasets.
  • Recent software development experience building a Platform as a Service (PaaS).
  • Experience working with open-source computer vision libraries (e.g., OpenCV).
  • Knowledge of containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and rapid prototyping.
  • Experience with low-level development or hardware acceleration (e.g., CUDA or Assembly).
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.

Compensation range for this position is the following

  • Starting $175,000.00/year to $200,000.00/year
