Essential Responsibilities

• Assists with the nursing assessment through data collection, observation, and obtainment of vital signs on assigned patients or clients.

• Provides care according to an established nursing plan.

• Observes changes in patient's condition and notify supervisory personnel if significant changes occur.

• Provides routine ostomy care, nasogastric tube placement and feeding and placement, and discontinuing of oral-gastric tube.Initiates and monitors oxygen therapy according to physician orders or unit protocol.

• Suctions and cleans tracheotomy sites.

• May administer oral, intravenous, intra-muscular, intra-dermal, subcutaneous, sub-lingual, vaginal, rectal, and topical medications.

• Prepares patients for routine physical examinations and assist the physician during examinations.

• An LPN can function in the role of Surgical Tech if position open is in the operating room.
