Posting Summary
The Rutgers School of Nursing is seeking a Data Migration Instructor.
A Data Migration Instructor is responsible for teaching and guiding students in the principles and best practices of transferring data between systems. This role involves educating learners on data preparation, extraction, transformation and loading ( ETL). The ETL process includes data integration process used to collect raw data from multiple sources (extract), clean and convert it into a usable format (transform), and store it in a centralized data warehouse or lake (load) for analysis, system upgrades, transitions, and/or integrations. The ideal candidate will develop and deliver instructional materials, conduct hands-on training, and collaborate with faculty to ensure a strong understanding of data integrity, consistency, and strategies for minimizing disruptions during migrations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teaching & Development

  • Design, develop, and deliver instructional materials for courses related to data migration, ETL processes, and database management.
  • Teach faculty best practices for data extraction, transformation, validation, and loading (ETL) across various platforms.
  • Develop and implement hands-on training exercises using real-world data migration scenarios.


Technical Instruction & Mentorship

  • Demonstrate the use of Microsoft Office, Excel, SQL, Python, ETL tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, SSIS), and data validation techniques.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and integrate emerging technologies into the curriculum.

Collaboration & Continuous Improvement

  • Work with IT professionals, data engineers, and stakeholders to align teaching materials with industry needs.
  • Collaborate with other faculty members or training teams to improve course content and delivery.
  • Provide constructive feedback to the team and help them develop problem-solving skills in data migration.

Administrative & Professional Development

  • Maintain detailed records of course materials, migration progress, and curriculum updates.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, training workshops, and professional development activities.
