Environmental Engineer

Silgan is hiring an Environmental Engineer to work in our brand-new office in Waukesha, WI.

We are looking for an Environmental Engineer who enjoys solving complex environmental challenges and leading regulatory initiatives. While this position supports all environmental programs, its primary focus is air compliance, including permitting, emissions reporting, regulatory strategy, and continuous improvement of environmental performance across multiple facilities.

You will serve as a trusted technical advisor to plant leadership, a subject matter expert on air regulations, and a key resource in helping our manufacturing facilities maintain full environmental compliance.

What You Will Do

  • Lead air compliance programs across multiple manufacturing facilities
  • Manage Title V permits, permit modifications, and regulatory submissions
  • Prepare emissions inventories and air compliance reports
  • Coordinate emissions calculations, stack testing, and ongoing compliance monitoring
  • Interpret and apply Clean Air Act requirements and applicable state regulations
  • Develop environmental compliance strategies for manufacturing operations
  • Support wastewater and hazardous waste compliance programs
  • Partner with operations to reduce environmental risk
  • Conduct inspections, audits, and regulatory interactions
  • Develop environmental training and mentor engineering staff
  • Support sustainability initiatives through environmentally responsible manufacturing practices

What You Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering or a related discipline
  • 3+ years of environmental compliance experience in manufacturing
  • Demonstrated experience managing air permitting and regulatory compliance programs
  • Strong knowledge of Title V permitting, emissions inventories, Clean Air Act regulations, MACT/NESHAP, and NSPS requirements
  • Experience working with EPA and state environmental agencies
  • Strong project management and communication skills
  • Ability to travel 20-30%
  • PE, CHMM, or related certification preferred
  • Experience with emissions inventories, stack testing, and environmental management systems preferred
