Job Description




As a Security Officer - Armed Patrol Technician in Alexandria, VA, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As an Armed Patrol Officer with Allied Universal at a government transportation location, you will conduct routine patrols and remain highly visible to help discourage security-related incidents. You will support access points, observe and report unusual activity, and communicate clearly with riders, staff, and partners while providing strong customer service. This role calls for integrity, teamwork, and an agile, reliable approach, along with a valid armed guard card or license.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to all visitors, commuters, and staff by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a government transportation location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including contacting public emergency services, providing clear directions to others, and documenting actions taken.
  • Conduct regular and random armed patrols of platforms, parking areas, entrances, and perimeter routes to help to discourage unauthorized activity and/or policy violations.
  • Control access to restricted areas by verifying identification and/or credentials, monitoring entry points, and following post orders for screening and prohibited items.
  • Complete detailed incident reports, daily activity logs, and patrol documentation, and communicate status updates to Allied Universal leadership and site representatives as needed.

Minimum Requirements:

  • An armed guard card and/or license is required.
  • CPR and/or First Aid certification is preferred.
  • Experience with handcuffs, pepper spray, and/or baton is preferred.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Access control and/or badge experience is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
