Job Description: (CO Pro 2 - Business Analyst-Non-IT 8422BA)

This role is responsible for the reporting and analysis functions for the UMD Stores. Key responsibilities include the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements, GL reconciliation, overseeing key payment activities, and analyzing business activity across multiple sales locations. Various analysis in support of the business is a key aspect of the role. This role also supervises the A/P, A/R, and Cash-room functions.

This is a hybrid position, 2 to 3 days on campus or 2 to 3 days remote.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Reporting & Analysis - 35%:

  • Prepare financial statements for UMD Stores
  • General ledger reconciliation activity between EFS and the MBS general ledger.
  • Reconcile balance sheet and expense accounts monthly.
  • Coordinate Course Works charges and refunds to student accounts.
  • Analyze current sales and expense results vs. budget and historical benchmarks to identify potential issues.

Business Analysis & Reporting - 35%

  • Analyze merchandise performance, identifying opportunities and risk to the business.
  • Analyze merchandise assortment across price, fashion level, and aging to identify necessary actions.
  • Analyze store productivity metrics to identify opportunities and potential payroll savings.
  • Assist with open to buy (OTB) reporting and analysis to optimize sales and inventory relationships.
  • Identify and execute other analysis opportunities in support of the business.

Systems - 15%:

  • Merchant Manager for UMD Stores for the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS).
  • Identify and resolve system problems associated with POS transactions, tender type issues (UCard and credit card issues) and inventory.
  • Coordinate support for store technology upgrades, patches, and issue resolution.

Other Support Duties - 15%:

  • Coordinate the week-end, month-end and year-end closing processes for ERP.
  • Supervises associates in the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Cash room functions
  • Coordinate monthly internal department sales file upload to EFS.
  • Gift card administrator, monitor gift card liability and resolve problems that occur with software provider (SVS).
  • Process inventory adjustments, merchandise write-offs and price change activity.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree plus two (2) years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least six (6) years.
  • Fluent with MS-Office, PeopleSoft, and/or other financial systems
  • Experience and proficiency with the various steps of accounts receivable (billing, cash receipts and reporting).
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $57,886.40 to $70,000 per year; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 100% Appointment
