General Maintenance Mechanic II

Performs skilled maintenance tasks to complete repair work, pressure cleaning, painting and general maintenance work for the upkeep of the campus lots and garages.

• Oversees the installation and maintenance of bumper blocks, county curbs, pavement markings, traffic signage, and informational signage in parking lots, garages, roadways and pavement sealants. Upgrades and maintains in adequate conditions surface parking lots and roadways with regards to damage asphalt, county curbs, bumper blocks, curbing, and signage in any other area. Operates a motor vehicle to transport and pickup materials.
• Assists with the pressure washing of campus garages, parking lots and sidewalks and painting of the walls, ceilings, columns, beams, and stairwells when necessary. Provides maintenance to campus signage and vinyl wrapping on equipment on University assets.
• Inspects and repairs parking structures with regards to damage to the fire protection systems, barrier cables, ALPR and CCTV cameras, lighting, call boxes, and any other structure physical items. Performs periodic maintenance on air pumps and EV charging stations as needed. Provides maintenance and repair of shower and bathroom trailers with light plumbing work.
• Operates all types of cleaning equipment, including specialized equipment. Performs all heavy cleaning such as floor stripping, waxing, polishing, pressure cleaning, champing and any other cleaning deemed to be necessary for maintenance of the facilities/garages. Properly disposes of cleaning supplies and assists the supervisor with maintaining custodial equipment in operating order.
• Assists with special events on campus, including but not limited to football games and commencement.
• Performs other related duties as required or as directed. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
• Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.

• Completion of an approved apprenticeship program for mechanical trades or a high school diploma and three (3) years of appropriate experience.
• Valid Florida Driver's - Class E
