Position Summary

The University of Southern Indiana seeks applications for a 12-month Instructor in Nursing. The Instructor in Nursing position is renewable and non-tenure track. Position begins August 1, 2026 or when filled.

Duties/Responsibilities

This position will assume classroom teaching responsibilities as well as clinical supervision of students in the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. This role will also include simulation coordinator responsibilities.

In this position, the successful candidate will:

* Help with the development, implementation and evaluation of nursing simulation activities.
* Collaborate with nursing faculty to design and implement simulation scenarios aligned with nursing curriculum and expected program outcomes.
* Ensure the availability and proper functioning of nursing simulation equipment and resources.
* Facilitate nursing simulation sessions and debriefings, guiding students in reflecting on their experiences and integrating theoretical knowledge into practical skills.
* Maintain current knowledge of best practices in nursing simulation-based education.
* Disseminate current best practice and innovations to nursing faculty to help integration into courses.

Collaboration with Nursing Faculty and Staff:
* Collaborate closely with nursing faculty to align simulation activities with nursing course objectives.
* Work in tandem with other nursing support services to provide a comprehensive approach to nursing student success.

Nursing Data Tracking and Analysis:
* Maintain records of nursing student progress and success coaching interactions.
* Analyze nursing student data to identify trends and areas for improvement, implementing data-driven interventions.

Nursing Workshops and Training:
* Conduct workshops and training sessions specific to nursing faculty and students on effective simulation techniques and strategies for academic success in nursing.

Required Knowledge and Skills



  • A master's degree in Nursing or a related field is required. All candidates must hold a valid and unencumbered Indiana (or compact) RN license. Also, all applicants who are eligible for a compact RN license must apply and hold an Indiana compact RN license.

  • Valid Drivers License is required to facilitate transportation to off-campus clinical sites.

  • One to two years of simulation experience.

  • Background in student success coaching and/or academic advising.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a focus on nursing-specific competencies.

  • Familiarity with educational technologies and simulation equipment.

  • Ability to analyze data and implement data-driven interventions in the context of nursing education.
