Senior Manager, Procurement Contracts - EPC

Building on our past. Ready for the future.
Worley is a global professional services company of energy, chemicals and resources experts. We partner with customers to deliver projects and create value over the life of their assets. We're bridging two worlds, moving towards more sustainable energy sources, while helping to provide the energy, chemicals and resources needed now.

At Worley, our projects are ambitious, technically complex, and commercially significant. As we continue to deliver EPC solutions across energy, chemicals, and resources markets, we are seeking an experienced Senior Manager, Procurement Contracts - EPC to lead the commercial strategy and execution of major subcontracting activities.

This role sits at the center of project success-where commercial rigor, contractual precision, and operational execution intersect. You will play a key role in ensuring subcontracting strategies protect our clients' interests while enabling efficient and successful project delivery.

You will collaborate with project leadership, procurement teams, engineering, construction, and legal professionals to ensure subcontracting frameworks are aligned with project goals, risk management standards, and commercial best practices.

Purpose of the role

Play an integral role in shaping and executing subcontracting strategies that support successful project outcomes across complex EPC environments.

You will be responsible for leading the full lifecycle of EPC subcontracts-from contractor identification and negotiation through post-award management and claims defense-ensuring commercial integrity, contractual clarity, and effective risk mitigation throughout the project lifecycle.

This position provides operational leadership within a defined function, location, or major project. You will help establish a clear vision for subcontracting excellence while aligning commercial practices with Worley's broader project delivery and organizational objectives.

Core Responsibilities

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading complex EPC subcontract negotiations, ensuring robust commercial terms and protection of client rights and remedies
  • Identifying, soliciting, and selecting qualified contractors to provide consulting, specialty, and construction services
  • Developing and implementing subcontracting strategies aligned with project delivery goals and regional objectives
  • Managing post-award contract administration, including formal contractor correspondence, entitlement evaluation, and change management
  • Developing claims defense strategies and coordinating with legal teams to protect project and client interests
  • Overseeing contractor performance to ensure adherence to commercial obligations, schedule commitments, and contractual requirements
  • Reviewing and approving supporting documentation for contractor invoices to confirm accuracy and compliance with subcontract terms
  • Collaborating closely with client representatives when administering contracts on behalf of the client organization
  • Partnering with project controls, engineering, construction, and procurement teams to maintain alignment between commercial and operational activities
  • Establishing policies, procedures, and governance frameworks that strengthen subcontract management practices within your area of responsibility
  • Driving long-range planning and commercial decision-making that influences project outcomes and regional execution strategies
  • Building, mentoring, and developing high-performing subcontract management professionals

This role operates with broad management authority and minimal technical oversight, with accountability for decisions that materially influence commercial outcomes and project success.

What you'll bring to the role

You bring deep EPC expertise and a strategic commercial mindset. You recognize that contracts are more than documentation-they are critical instruments that define risk allocation, shape contractor performance, and influence project success.

Key qualifications and capabilities include:

  • A university degree in a related discipline or equivalent relevant experience
  • 20+ years of industry experience within engineering, procurement, and construction project environments
  • Significant leadership experience managing subcontracting, procurement, or commercial functions on major EPC projects
  • Advanced knowledge of contract law principles, commercial risk management, and construction claims strategy
  • Demonstrated expertise negotiating and administering complex EPC subcontracts across large-scale projects
  • Experience managing post-award contract changes and contractor communications while preserving contractual rights and entitlements
  • Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and manage large-scale or multiple complex projects through others
  • Strong executive communication skills with the ability to clearly present commercial positions to senior leadership and client stakeholders
  • Exceptional negotiation, persuasion, and conflict resolution capabilities in high-stakes project environments
  • A collaborative leadership approach that encourages accountability, transparency, and cross-functional teamwork
  • Expert-level understanding of commercial systems, governance frameworks, and subcontract management processes used in EPC project delivery
  • The ability to develop and improve subcontracting frameworks that strengthen consistency, efficiency, and risk control across projects

You think strategically, act decisively, and lead with integrity. You understand how to balance strong commercial protection with the practical realities of delivering complex engineering and construction projects.

Feel the energy at Worley with access to a range of benefits including: paid-time off, holiday pay (usually 8 per year in the US), and eligibility to participate in the medical, life, dental, and vision insurance plans, as well as 401K plan.
