Production Planner 1 (Packaging Operations)

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM

Duration: Up to 1 year

Pay Rate: $34 an hour or about $69,000 a year

Job Type: Year Long Contract with possible extension

Preferred Background:

Experience working with biologicals, chemistry-based products, or liquid manufacturing environments is highly desirable due to the complexity of the product portfolio.

Position Summary

The Production Planner I is responsible for coordinating and optimizing packaging production schedules to ensure successful execution of the production plan based on Global Planning inputs. This role analyzes demand, manages inventory levels, and collaborates closely with production teams to minimize downtime and maximize efficiency.

Using SAP MRP and scheduling tools, the planner monitors key performance indicators (KPIs) related to production, inventory, capacity, yields, scrap, and product life cycles to support reliable and accurate planning.

Key Responsibilities



  • Develop and maintain production schedules using ERP systems or manual Kanban processes with input from Production, Purchasing, Quality Control, Marketing, and Supply Planning.
  • Collaborate with Supply Assurance buyers to prevent material shortages and ensure material readiness.
  • Support optimal production flow through finite scheduling, data analysis, and resolution of routine planning issues.
  • Generate reports, analyze planning data, and provide scheduling recommendations.
  • Review and resolve production schedule messages and issues raised by manufacturing teams.
  • Manage routine to moderately complex scheduling activities within a defined scope.
  • Escalate non-routine issues to the supervisor as needed.
  • Follow established processes, work instructions, and company policies.
  • Review work for accuracy and completeness.
  • Develop reporting tools and dashboards to improve workflow efficiency and scheduling effectiveness.



How You'll Make an Impact



  • Ensure packaging production schedules are executable, material-ready, and aligned with Global Planning demand.
  • Maintain accurate and achievable plans while coordinating cross-functionally to prevent downtime and shortages.
  • Utilize SAP MRP and finite scheduling tools to improve schedule adherence, optimize capacity, and balance inventory.
  • Analyze KPIs-including yields, scrap, and product life cycle risk-to proactively identify constraints and protect customer deliveries.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance planning accuracy and overall production flow.



Qualifications

Required:



  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Product Supply Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 2+ years of experience using ERP systems or working in a Lean Manufacturing environment
  • Experience in production planning or scheduling
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to anticipate issues and proactively problem-solve



Preferred:



  • APICS CPIM certification
  • Experience in biological, chemical, liquid, or complex regulated manufacturing environments
  • SAP MRP experience

The base pay range listed reflects what we reasonably expect to offer for this role. Actual pay may vary based on location, experience, and performance.
