Position Title: Technician I

Position Summary:

The Technician I supports the installation, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment, machinery, and facility systems. Working under the guidance of senior technicians or engineers, this role performs routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and basic repairs to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. The Technician I also assists with electrical assembly tasks and applies foundational knowledge of voltage and electrical systems in daily work activities.

Key Responsibilities:




  • Assist in the installation, repair, maintenance, and electrical assembly of equipment, machinery, and systems in accordance with established procedures and safety protocols.



  • Perform routine inspections, testing, calibration, and preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.



  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions using diagnostic tools, technical manuals, and schematics, escalating complex issues as needed.



  • Assemble, wire, and test electrical components and systems, demonstrating understanding of voltage (AC/DC), current, and basic circuit principles.



  • Operate and calibrate equipment and instruments to ensure accurate measurements and reliable performance.



  • Support equipment setup and teardown for production, testing, or experimental activities following SOPs.



  • Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance activities, work orders, equipment logs, and inventory using CMMS or related systems.



  • Follow all safety regulations and best practices, including proper lockout/tagout procedures and safe handling of electrical systems.



  • Participate in training and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance technical skills and operational efficiency.




Required Qualifications:




  • High school diploma or equivalent.



  • 1-3 years of experience in a technical, maintenance, manufacturing, laboratory, or industrial environment.



  • Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, including electrical assembly and safe handling of low- to moderate-voltage systems.



  • Understanding of voltage, current, resistance, and the ability to read basic wiring diagrams or schematics.



  • Proficiency in safely using hand and power tools.



  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills.



  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.



  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, climbing ladders, and working in various environmental conditions.



  • Willingness to work flexible hours and support on-call operational needs.




Preferred Qualifications:




  • Technical certification or associate degree in electronics, electrical technology, industrial maintenance, or a related field.



  • Experience with CMMS or maintenance tracking systems.



  • Familiarity with industrial safety standards and electrical safety practices.



  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.



  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional and diverse teams.
