Gear Quotations Specialist
The Switchgear Specialist provides dedicated technical expertise, inventory, logistical support, and specialized technical solutions for multiple customer jobs simultaneously. This position will be primarily responsible for managing and preparing quotes and bids for incoming projects and providing ongoingknowledge support to Project Managers as a technical resource.
What you'll do:
* Serve as a technical and commercial resource for industrial and data center gear projects, including switchgear, switchboards, power distribution units (PDUs), busway, transformers, UPS integration, and high-capacity distribution systems.
* Manage incoming quotes and bids for customers by providing accurate, competitive, and on-time quotations, as well as technical expertise to customers.
* Review and interpret industrial and data center construction documents, including single-line diagrams, one-lines, equipment schedules, and mission-critical specifications.
* Develop detailed quotations and proposals for complex, large-scale, and mission-critical projects, ensuring compliance with customer, engineer, and end-user requirements.
* Produce a bill of materials from drawings, specifications, descriptions, or notes.
* Coordinate with QED's purchasing department to ensure product availability in line with contract specifications and demand-driven inventory practices.
* Collaborate with sales teams, manufacturers, contractors, and engineers to support data center and industrial project pursuits from design assist through order execution.
* Evaluate alternate equipment configurations, manufacturers, and value-engineering opportunities while maintaining uptime, redundancy, and reliability requirements (e.g., N, N+1, 2N).
* Coordinate pricing, lead times, and technical clarifications with manufacturers for custom or non-standard industrial and data center equipment.
* Thoroughly understand all product capabilities, features, and benefits as well as QED's market conditions, product warranties, and services to ensure timely and accurate flow of information from Quotations to the Project Management team to ensure a seamless and efficient handling of customer projects from start to finish.
* Be aware of customer sales opportunities and share this intel with the manager.
* Build rapport with the customer by understanding the customer's job, their business, and the market.
* Ensure that QED is the Electrical Distributor of Choice.

* Support customers through submittals, revisions, approvals, and change orders related to industrial and data center projects.
* Assist with customer and sales training related to industrial applications, data center power infrastructure, and emerging technologies within the electrical distribution space.
* Provide post-quotation support by addressing technical questions, scope clarifications, and issue resolution during procurement and installation phases.
What you'll bring:
* 3+ years of prior experience with commercial and/or industrial switchgear products, from manufacturing,distribution, or vendor background.
* Expert ability to read and comprehend electrical plans and specifications.
* Experience supporting industrial facilities and/or data center electrical infrastructure projects preferred.
* Familiarity with mission-critical power distribution concepts, redundancy models, and high-capacity electrical systems strongly desired.
* Effective user of ERP systems (preferably Epicor or SAP).
* Knowledge of commercial electrical suppliers and product lines, pricing strategies, and local/regional markets.
* Ability to travel to customer offices and construction sites.
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written, with customers and suppliers at the highest level.
* Strong customer service orientation, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
* Time management - ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines; highly organized.
* PC literate with knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Power Point)
Compensation: $65,000 - 85,000
