Who we are looking for:

ASCO's international membership and the Regional Council program are critical components of our mission to serve the global oncology community. This intern position will conduct a comprehensive analysis, ensuring that the Regional Councils are effectively meeting the needs of their target audience and providing maximum value to the organization. The successful intern will also support international strategy by researching the global market of oncology professionals to better understand ASCO's potential growth opportunities.

Internship activities include:

  • Website Engagement Analysis
    • Collaborate with the IT team to analyze user data related to the Regional Council homepage. This includes evaluating website visits, click-through rates, duration of sessions, and user navigation paths to quantify member interest and engagement with the program's online presence.
  • Member Awareness Investigation
    • Design and facilitate focus groups with international members from various regions. The goal is to gather qualitative insights into their awareness of the Regional Councils, their perceptions of the program's value, and their suggestions for future enhancements.
  • Data Synthesis and Reporting
    • Combine the quantitative data from the website analysis with the qualitative feedback from the focus groups to create a holistic evaluation of the Regional Council program. This will provide a clear, data-driven picture of its current state and future potential.
  • Global Market Analysis
    • Research the market size of oncology professionals in key countries and regions around the world. This will help ASCO better understand its current market share, identify areas for potential growth, and inform future international strategy.
  • Build Member Personas
    • Utilize digital technologies to build member personas - define a clear role, behavior, and tone through a detailed, structured prompt - enabling ASCO to better understand member needs and challenges globally.

Required qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate BA/BS degree program, or graduate program, or recently graduated from a 4-year degree program. Candidates must be at least a junior or entering their junior year of college at the start of the internship.
  • Interest in association membership or international affairs
  • Working with international audiences is a plus
  • Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (365 preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with flexibility to adapt to changing needs
  • Solid organizational and time management skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent customer service skills and professionalism

Duration:10weeksduring thesummer - June 8, 2026 to August 14, 2026. This internship is37.5hours per week.

Compensation:Thissummerinternship position is paid at a rate of $20/hour for actual hours worked. Additionally, ASCO will provide parking or a metro subsidy.

Location:This internship is based in Alexandria, VA and will require working onsite the majority of the time with some offsite work flexibility. Candidates should reside in the D.C. metro area or be able to relocate at their own expense. If you are not able to work at ASCO Headquarters, please do not apply.
