Job Summary

Under general supervision, performs skilled trades work in the maintenance, repair operation and/or installation of a variety of
equipment and/ or facilities requiring certification in skilled trades such as heating, ventilating, air conditioning, refrigeration
stationary engineering, steam fitting or steam and hot water, and standard performance in other skilled trade areas.

Essential Functions:

  • Operates and performs routine maintenance on the boilers, chillers and HVAC equipment in a timely, cost effective and efficient manner. (20%)

  • Handles emergency repairs and maintenance in operations as required, and "after hours" emergency repairs throughout the campus as required, in an expeditious manner to minimize disruption of services to patients. (20%)

  • Inspects facilities and equipment to determine installation, alteration maintenance and repairs needs as permitted by certificate. (20%)

  • Operates maintains, replaces and repairs commercial refrigeration and air conditioning systems, controls and related equipment. (20%)

  • Operates maintains, and repairs high pressure steam boilers, pumping units vacuum pumps, boiler feed pumps and auxiliary equipment. (5%)

  • Performs general maintenance repair. (5%)

  • Maintains records and prepares reports. (5%)

  • Plans and coordinates installation, maintenance and repair work with other trades areas. (5%)

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED required

Work Experience:

  • Completion of recognized apprenticeship program in the appropriate trade area required OR

  • Three years' experience at the apprenticeship level of the trade required

Licenses:

  • DLR-Colorado Driver's License Class R - DMV - Department of Motor Vehicles required AND

  • HVAC Journeyman required OR

  • Plumber Journeyman required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.

  • Skill in obtaining and seeing to the appropriate use of equipment, facilities, and materials needed to do certain work.

  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, specifications, and technical drawings.

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
