Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for aSenior IT Systems Administratorat UL Research InstitutesandUL Standards & Engagementbased in our Evanston,ILoffice.

TheSenior IT Systems Administratoracts as a technical expert and liaison between IT Operations, Infrastructure and Security teams. This positionis responsible formanaging enterprise IT assets,optimizingcloud-based services, driving IT automation, and supporting endpoint security and collaboration tools. The Senior IT Systems Administrator plays a key role in enhancing IT service delivery and infrastructure management.

Whatyou'lllearnandachieve:

As theSenior IT Systems Administrator,you will play a key role in the rapid growth ofULas you:

  • Configure and manage Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android devices using Microsoft Intune, including device provisioning, Autopilot enrollment, compliance, and conditional access policies.

  • Deploy applications via Win32Apppackaging, MSI deployment, or Company Portal andmonitordevice compliance using Intune reporting.

  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues on managed endpoints andmonitorperformance, patch compliance, and security.

  • Develop andmaintainautomation scripts using PowerShell and Bash to streamline endpoint and system administration tasks.

  • Collaborate with Security teams to implement and support Zero Trust frameworks and MFA policies across the environment.

  • Manage the full user lifecycle (provisioning and deprovisioning) in Azure Active Directory and administer Conditional Access, MFA, and PIM.

  • Maintain SSO integrations and Group Policy mappings to ensure seamless identity and access management.

  • Administer Exchange Online including mailbox configuration, mail flow rules, retention policies, and eDiscovery compliance; troubleshoot deliverability issues.

  • Configure Microsoft Teams policies, guest access, and compliance settings; support Teams Rooms Pro deployments including hardware/software setup.

  • Integrate Teams with collaboration tools like SharePoint and OneDrive, and troubleshoot voice/video conferencing, call queues, and meeting policies.

  • Monitor and remediate non-compliant devices via Intune compliance reporting

  • Collaborate closely with Security and Infrastructure teams to manage the full vulnerability lifecycle across all managed assets-including end-user computing devices and online systems-and take responsibility for tracking and ensuring adherence to vulnerability remediation SLAs.

  • Performs other duties as directed.

What makes you a great fit:

  • Certifications in Intune Administration, JAMF Administration, and Office 365 Cloud Administration.

  • Strong experience with Microsoft Intune (Endpoint Manager) for Windows/macOS device management.

  • Experience with tools like Copilot, Ansible, Power Automate to improve and automate IT processes is a plus.

  • Expertisein JAMF Pro for managing Apple devices.

  • Deep knowledge of Entra ID, Exchange Online, and Microsoft Teams administration.

  • Extensive experience with PowerShell, Bash, and automation tools.

  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent documentation and communication abilities.

  • Ability to work with executives, and PhD level scientists andparticipateon special project teams

Professional education and experience requirements for the role include:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT system administration or a similar role

  • Experience with ITIL frameworks or certifications (e.g., ITIL Foundation) is a plus
