Position Summary
| Strategic Supplier Ownership - Own day-to-day and long-term relationship management for a defined set of strategic suppliers. Serve as the primary point of contact for all commercial and operational topics with these suppliers. Develop and manage contracts, long-term agreements, and key commercial terms (price, lead time, capacity, service levels). |
| Cost, Contracts, and Commercial Management - Lead RFQs, proposal evaluations, negotiations, and sourcing decisions for assigned commodities and strategic suppliers. Own pricing, contract terms, lead times, and capacity commitments. Drive annual cost reduction initiatives and minimize cost increases; accountable for Purchase Cost Variance (PCV) performance on designated commodities. |
| Execution & Operational Performance - Manage all procurement activities for assigned suppliers, including PO placement and maintenance, expediting/de-expediting and rescheduling, resolution of invoice, pricing, and quantity discrepancies, and management of defective material and associated corrective actions. Ensure on-time delivery, quality, responsiveness, and inventory optimization in alignment with business requirements. |
| Escalation & Recovery - Lead escalations (internally and with suppliers) to resolve delivery, capacity, quality, or commercial issues. Develop recovery plans, track progress, and communicate status to internal stakeholders. Proactively identify and mitigate supply risk (e.g., single-source, capacity constraints, raw material shortages). |
| Planning & Long-Range Supply Strategy - Partner closely with planning, operations, engineering, and program management to translate demand forecasts into robust supply strategies. Align supplier capacity, lead times, and stocking strategies with long-range demand and new program ramp-ups. Support Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) and supply reviews as it relates to assigned suppliers/commodities. |
| Continuous Improvement & Value Engineering - Drive continuous improvement initiatives with suppliers to improve quality, delivery, and cost. Support or lead VA/VE activities, product/supplier transitions, and supplier capability and capacity analyses. Use data and KPIs to monitor performance, identify trends, and implement corrective and preventive actions. |
| Compliance & Data Integrity - Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and applicable regulations in all procurement activities. Maintain accurate system data for assigned suppliers (lead times, MOQ, pricing, delivery terms, contact info, etc.). Prepare and present reports, analyses, and recommendations to management as required. |
| Scope Flexibility - Depending on business needs, may own all strategic activity across the supplier base while directly managing full tactical and strategic activity for a smaller subset of high-impact suppliers, or focus primarily on the top-tier strategic suppliers with deeper, end-to-end ownership. |
