Job Summary
Denver Health Foundation has been accelerating the work of Denver Health & Hospital Authority for more than 25 years by securing philanthropic support and investments. Given the aspiring agenda of Denver Health, the Foundation is planning for the most ambitious fundraising campaign in the history of the organization. The Philanthropy Team will be essential to the success of this exercise.
The Advisor II, Philanthropy plays a vital role in the success of the campaign by helping build and establish key individual relationships that translates into significant financial commitments to the organization. The Philanthropy team works closely with the Sr. Director of Philanthropy, the Philanthropy Team, the Campaign Director, and the Executive Director to develop and implement strategies for the major gift program. The primary objective of the Philanthropy Advisor is to invest prospective donors in the vision of Denver Health and to develop long-term relationships built on a firm understanding of donor's interests, passions and values and to secure financial investments as a result of these relationships. The Philanthropy Advisor will be responsible for a portfolio of major gift donors and prospects.
Essential Functions:
- Creates, integrates and implements short, intermediate and long-term individual major gift strategies. (10%)
- Develops strategic funding requests based on short, intermediate and long term funding goals of the foundation for high-net worth individuals. (10%)
- Acts as primary relationship manager for individual prospects of $10,000 or more/year to reach or exceed ambitious annual funding goals. (10%)
- Plays a lead role in planning for, asking for, and closing major gifts. (10%)
- Manages and tracks relationship processes for individual major gift donors and prospects using Moves Management. (10%)
- Leverages funding campaigns, events and activities (volunteer experiences, tours, receptions, etc.) for major gift donors. (10%)
- Develops major gift materials, including briefing memos, proposals and stewardship materials. (5%)
- Helps to manages and coordinates the Foundation Board and volunteer donor groups to cultivate and request new gifts. (5%)
- Monitors weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual activity to achieve major gift revenue goals. (5%)
- Assists with review and verification of major gift donor recognition lists. (5%)
- Tracks and reports relationship management activity using constituent relationship management system including identification, qualification, cultivation, briefing, solicitation and stewardship of prospective and current individual major donors. (5%)
- Participates in regular Foundation Staff meetings and organization wide meetings as appropriate. (5%)
- Willingness and ability to adjust to changing conditions or priorities. (5%)
- Works with the Executive Director and the Director of Major Gifts to support and manage Executive Staff, Cabinet Members, and Board Members who are cultivating Major Donor relationships. (5%)
Education:
- Bachelor's Degree or 4 additional years of related experience required.
Work Experience:
- Three years experience in nonprofit fundraising experience with major gifts required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrated ability to meet financial goals for major gift giving.
- Demonstrated ability to think strategically and creatively.
- Demonstrated ability to persuade others.
- Ability to multi task, meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision.
- Strong written, oral and presentation communication skills.
