We are Utility Services of Alaska working with Golden Heart Utility and College Utilities to bring safe and clean water and wastewater operations to Fairbanks, Alaska. Together these three companies are known as Fairbanks Sewer and Water; we are owned by Nexus Water Group.

Overview

Fairbanks Sewer and Water has an opportunity for a Support Service Manager. This postion manageges administrative staff and is responsible for utility building maintenance.



Work Location and Schedule


This position is located inFairbanks, AK. Position requires a minimum of 40 hours per week (normal office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday-Friday) with hours in excess of 40 per week as needed.

What You'll Do

  • Manage administrative staff to include training, supervision and project assignments.
  • Direct organization, assignment, priority and completion of administrative projects.
  • Responsible for insuring accurate processing and efficient flow of paperwork between this section and other departments/companies.
  • Responsible for utility building maintenance and other building modifications.
  • Responsible for business insurance compliance, renewals and modifications.
  • Responsible for the development, review and update of utility equipment rates.
  • Budgets and review vehicle fleet needs of the utility.
  • Communicate effectively with SVP, President and Vice President. Administration and other department managers on all matters.
  • Supervise purchasing, including review of proposed purchases and budgetary matters and serve as purchasing agent for companies.
  • In Charge of ADEC loan submittals, loan reimbursements and compliance.
  • Perform other activities as assigned by the Vice President / Director of Administration.

What You'll Bring

Experience



  • At least four years experience in a business office with supervisory responsibilities.



Education



  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Communications or related studies.



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Developed public relations skills.
  • Capable of communicating effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Well organized, detail oriented, and able to manage and accomplish multiple activities simultaneously, sometimes under time constraints.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Effectively supervise and train staff.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office/Windows based applications.
  • Knowledge of wastewater and plumbing terms and general functions.

Work Environment

  • Normal office conditions prevail.
  • The work involves some walking and occasional lifting to approximate a 40-pound box.
