Production Manager - Powder Coatings

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 1st shift

Position Summary

The Production Manager - Powder Coatings is responsible for all aspects of powder production including production personnel. The Production Manager oversees manufacturing production to ensure that all quality, safety, and efficiency goals are attained.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide direction for all manufacturing activities.
  • Assist in scheduling activities.
  • Work with corporate engineering regarding maintenance of equipment and scheduling of preventive maintenance.
  • Driving continuous improvement in all production areas and processes.
  • Leading operational excellence on the production floor.
  • Leading and/or being an active member of the Safety Committee.
  • Compliance with all applicable ISO procedures and processes.
  • Responsible for training and control of all production processes.
  • Responsible for auditing processes and maintaining data as evidence of process control.
  • Assist in overseeing staff in raw material/finished goods warehouse, shipping and receiving areas.
  • Responsible for maintaining all safety requirements of the department.
  • Utilize the Business Operating System to report operations completed, materials issued, and other related transactions.
  • Responsible for ensuring adherence to safety rules by all direct reports, including promoting safe work practices, coaching employees, and providing any required safety training in addition to that offered by the corporate safety trainer. Stops and reports any observed safety violations throughout the facility.
  • Comply with all quality, safety, and work rules and regulations.
  • Conducts interviews, hires, and terminates employees as necessary in accordance with company policies.
  • Performs semi-annual performance reviews for direct reports, providing feedback, coaching, and development guidance.
  • Provides ongoing performance coaching and oversight for assigned staff.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualification Requirements

  • Preferred education level: Associate's or two-year college degree or equivalent.
  • Preferred experience level: Three to five years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably chemicals or coatings.

Skills and Abilities

  • Experience assessing color matches for accuracy to sample.
  • Understanding of powder coating formulations
  • Experience with Production and Laboratory equipment.
  • Forklift certification preferred.
  • Exemplify core values, i.e., Integrity, Loyalty, Passion, Commitment, and Respect.
  • Superb written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, Outlook), ERP system and other office machinery.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Excellent team building and communications skills.

Work Environment & Physical Requirements

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to communicate verbally and audibly in a manufacturing or operational setting.
  • Frequently required to stand, walk, and move throughout the work area.
  • Regular use of hands and fingers to handle, manipulate, and control objects, tools, or equipment.
  • Required to sit, balance, stoop, and occasionally reach above shoulder level.
  • Occasional operation of machinery using foot controls
  • May be required to climb, balance, and reach overhead as part of job duties.
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 65 lbs.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Safety shoes, safety glasses, and flame-retardant uniforms or lab coats are required in production areas.
  • Respirators and ear plugs are required for specific production processes.
