Energy Resource Adoption Forecasting Consultant

DNV GL, USA
United States, Texas, Houston
Feb 24, 2026

Do you want to be part of an organization dedicated to tackling global issues such as climate change?

Are you passionate about modernizing energy systems to support decarbonization and the energy transition?

Do you get excited about leveraging data and modeling to solve strategic problems and inform future energy system planning, and collaborating with a team to do so?

DNV is seeking an Energy Resource Adoption Forecasting Consultant to join our Strategy Team (within Energy Systems North America). In this role, you will be responsible for supporting and leading projects in the energy transition, with a focus on energy efficiency (EE), demand response (DR), distributed energy resources (DER), and electrification potential modeling and forecasting; customer adoption and grid impacts analysis; demand flexibility assessments; and additional technical & market research to support evolving client and stakeholder needs. Strong candidates will bring knowledge of a breadth of energy technologies, an interest in executing complex analysis, and a self-starter attitude.

This role is based at our DNV office in Houston, TX although we would consider other locations in the U.S. depending on the selected candidate. Further details regarding role-specific requirements will be shared during the interview process.

What You'll Do

  • Conduct and support energy efficiency (EE), demand response (DR), distributed energy resource (DER), and building and transportation electrification potential studies and forecasting efforts. These projects can include conducting research and developing datasets, executing analysis, interpreting results, and conducting quality assurance (QA).
  • Lead and support development of data-driven modeling tools to address our customers' evolving needs in understanding the intersection of demand-side resources and system planning.
  • Conduct and support demand flexibility studies; benefit-cost analysis (BCA); utility program benchmarking; and market, policy, and regulatory research in response to new opportunities with a diverse set of stakeholders in the energy system. This may include assessment of the potential market opportunities and barriers for load flexibility, DER, or hybrid DER products and/or business models.
  • Support project-based teams in the delivery of strategic research studies and analyses by serving as a technical lead. This can include client interaction, development of proposals or work plans, preparation of deliverables, and presentation of results. While not a core part of this role, there may be opportunities available for project management and coaching for interested candidates.
  • Work within a team of analysts and consultants, contributing to strong performance, collaboration, and continuous learning and improvement.
  • Interpret the results of data analysis to produce concise, meaningful conclusions and recommendations for client-facing reports and professional papers.
  • Support the development, maintenance, and/or refinement of models and tools used for strategic planning, NWA screening, potential studies, DER adoption analysis, and forecasting work.
  • Operate with a teamwork mentality that leads to building and maintaining interpersonal relationships, providing technical guidance to researchers and consultants, and collaborating with project managers and team members to share knowledge and best practices.
  • Collaborate with DNV staff on other teams in North America and globally (Digitalization & Analytics, Design & Evaluation, Engineering & Technology, Power System Advisory, Storage and Grid Edge, and Renewables Advisory) to identify opportunities for collaboration and innovation and to develop creative approaches to solving customer problems.
