Scope: The Mechanical Engineer will serve primarily as the engineer focusing on FEA for new product development projects. The Engineer will provide high-level computational analysis support and critical review of designs at the project leader's or design engineer's request across the business functions. Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform advanced Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to support new product development initiatives, ensuring designs meet performance, safety, and reliability requirements.
- Provide highlevel computational analysis support to project leaders, design engineers, and crossfunctional stakeholders throughout all stages of design.
- Conduct critical reviews of mechanical designs, offering datadriven insights and recommendations to improve function, manufacturability, and cost effectiveness.
- Support manufacturing and operations teams by performing analysis on existing products, tooling, and assembly processes as needed.
- Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, contributing engineering insight during brainstorming sessions, concept development, and bluesky innovation discussions.
- Develop, validate, and maintain analytical models, ensuring accuracy and consistency in simulation results.
- Prepare clear, comprehensive engineering reports that document methodology, assumptions, findings, and recommendations.
- Stay current with advancements in engineering software, hardware, and simulation methodologies, proactively identifying opportunities to improve analysis precision and efficiency.
- Recommend and implement improvements to modeling workflows, tools, and best practices to enhance the speed and quality of deliverables.
- Ensure adherence to engineering standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality procedures throughout all analysis-related work.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members on FEA methods, tools, and best practices (if applicable to level).
- Participate in design reviews and project meetings, serving as the subject matter expert for computational analysis and structural performance.
- Support testing and validation activities, correlating physical test results with simulation predictions to improve model accuracy.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or equivalent, with demonstrated engineering skills emphasizing computational simulation & modeling.
- Over 5 years of industrial experience utilizing engineering software including ANSYS (Mechanical, Autodyn, Fluent), SolidWorks, and other simulation tools for new product development and product enhancements. Knowledge of LS-DYNA is a plus.
- Experience in applying non-linear static structural, transient explicit dynamics methods, and Computational Fluid dynamics (CFD) on real-world problem-solving.
- Analyze FEA simulation data, providing conclusions and design recommendations in report format using Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Advanced degree (MS/Ph.D.) in Plastics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science or equivalent with emphasis on computational simulation.
- Materials experience in determining material properties and test methods for polymer materials.
- Experience with ANSYS Mechanical and Polymer Fem Mcalibration.
- Experience in applying non-linear static structural and transient explicit dynamics methods using polymer materials to real-world problem-solving.
