POSITION SUMMARY

Idaho Forest Group is currently seeking a Draftsman Level 1 to join our Heritage Equipment team, with future growth potential into our R&D initiatives. This position will have primary responsibility for the reproduction of parts design, parts reproduction manufacturing, research vendor capabilities, and troubleshooting of parts integration for the company's vintage equipment collection.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:



  • Comprehend and perform all duties in accordance with safety rules and regulations
  • Design flat pattern parts for water/laser/plasma/torch, understand capabilities and limitations of each process and be able to select most viable option for parts that are drawn.
  • Design parts for machining including parts from castings and fully machined parts such as shafts and other fabrications
  • Design parts in solid modeling software from scan data.
  • Create assemblies of modeled parts to check fits and interferences
  • Operate 3D scanning equipment
  • Operate 3D Printing equipment for prototyping and pattern making
  • Create Bill of Materials for assemblies
  • Consistently work at acceptable production levels
  • Knowledge of material composition for selection of proper materials for engineered parts such as castings, shafts, and fabrications
  • Other duties as needed


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Associate's degree, technical diploma, or equivalent experience in mechanical drafting or design.
  • 0-3 years of drafting/design experience.


Technical Skills:





    • Experience in 2D CAD (AutoCAD) and 3D CAD (SolidWorks preferred).
    • General knowledge of gears and basic design principles
    • Experience with 3D scanning equipment
    • Good understanding of fabrication, machining, and assembly processes.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).




General Skills:





    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; computer skills including excel, word, email
    • Ability to plan, develop and organize multiple demands
    • Excellent problem-solving skills
    • Self-motivation; results oriented


  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, post-offer pre-employment physical, and background check.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS



  • Valid driver's license


PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Ability to sit and/or stand for shift, reach with hands and arms, stoop, squat, bend at the waist, kneel, walk varying distance, and climb stairs.



  • Bend at waist - occasional

  • Stoop - occasional
  • Repetitive use of hands - frequent for clerical duties
  • Stand/walk - frequent
  • Sit - occasional
  • Vision - near and far correctable; depth perception
  • Hearing - preferred for awareness of surrounding machinery, mobile equipment, emergencies


WORK ENVIRONMENT

Must be able to tolerate all weather elements, loud conditions, airborne particles (sawdust).
