THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Pennsylvania Game Commission Dispatcher Supervisor, you will be responsible for planning, directing, scheduling, and supervising the work of Pennsylvania Game Commission Dispatchers engaged in responding to statewide requests for emergency and non-emergency wildlife services. Duties include performing a full range of supervisory duties, monitoring system operations and taking appropriate action when system anomalies occur, and notifying agency managers of any significant incidents. Your work will require you to operate a radio, telephone, audio recorder, and computer in order to coordinate communications between State Game Wardens, PGC staff, law enforcement agencies, and the public. Work is performed with considerable independence under the general supervision of the Centralized Dispatch Operations Manager and is reviewed for conformance to established policies and procedures through reports and conferences. You will also perform public service dispatching work which involves receiving, dispatching, and coordinating information and processes in the PGC Centralized Dispatch Center in addition to performing a variety of general support duties related to communication activities, including record keeping, typing, and filing.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work schedule will vary. Work will be scheduled 5 days/40 hours per week and will include a 30-minute lunch
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years as a Pennsylvania Game Commission Dispatcher (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Four years of dispatching experience involving police, fire, and/or ambulance personnel and services; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Special Requirements:

  • All employees must possess a clear, firm voice and no major speech, hearing, or visual impairments that would interfere with understanding verbal communication, being understood, or using electronic communications equipment and visual display equipment.
  • All employees must possess and maintain CLEAN and JNET certifications for the duration of employment in this job.
