DESCRIPTION OF WORK

The primary responsibility of this position is to conduct technical field inspections on boilers, unfired pressure vessels, liquefied petroleum gas installations, and flammable and combustible liquid installations. These inspections are crucial in ensuring compliance with the State Boiler Law, the Liquefied Petroleum Gas Law, and the Flammable and Combustible Liquid Law, as well as adhering to accepted national standards. Following inspections, you will have the opportunity to assist the Inspector with preparing detailed reports of findings, conducting follow-up inspections and investigating reported accidents. This role operates under the direct supervision of the District Supervisor and the general supervision of the Director of the Boiler Section in the Bureau of Occupational and Industrial Safety.
As part of the program, successful candidates will be assigned to Delaware or Philadelphia County. It is important to note that relocation to one of these counties within six months of certification is a mandatory requirement for employment.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
One year of experience in the design, construction, installation, inspection, operation, maintenance, or repair of boilers, unfired pressure vessels, electronic equipment, electrical systems, heavy machinery, motors, engines, drives or hydraulic systems; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
You must obtain, within the probationary period, a valid National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector Commission, and a valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspector Commission. You must possess an active motor vehicle license.
You must meet the PA residency requirement. For more information on ways to meet PA residency requirements, follow the link and click on Residency. You must reside in or relocate to Delaware or Philadelphia County.
