Financial Analyst, Property & Casualty Insurance

This position is responsible for performing key functions involving the management of the company's global insurance programs. The individual will work cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders, including Enterprise and Division Finance Groups, insurance carriers, brokers, and third-party service providers.

This role is not hybrid/remote and will report to our Global Headquarters in Cleveland, OH.

Because this role involves access to confidential financial information, the Company has determined that a review of criminal history is necessary to protect the business and its operations and reputation and to provide similar protections for its clients and potential investments.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

  • Supports the company's global insurance programs including self-insured property claim program, workers' compensation program, subrogation support, global premium payments, and filing new insurance claims.
  • Analyze department data and prepare recurring and ad hoc reports to support month and quarter end close processes.
  • Provides day-to-day support & service to all locations regarding the application and interpretation of the company's risk management & insurance programs.
  • Manage the monthly accrual process for property insurance and international claims, including reconciliation of all related accounts.
  • Gathers and validates underwriting data for insurance program renewals in accordance with established guidelines and formats. Partner with brokers to assist in the marketing of the global insurance program.
  • Participate in the adjustment of insured losses and coordinate with operating management in the preparation of claims.
  • Manages the global stock throughput insurance program.
  • Manage the global property loss control program that utilizes multiple vendors performing fire protection, jurisdictional inspections, and infrared audits.
  • Compiles information required to support the management of the Company's insurance captive.
  • Provides support for all key department projects, including acquisition integration and vendor RFPs

Claims Management:

  • Work with Risk Management, broker team members, and loss adjusters to provide support for claims management of both property and workers compensation claims.
  • Maintain process for assessing extent of employee injuries and provide technical expertise to resolve claims, while partnering with loss adjuster.
  • Review and evaluate claim reserves for timeliness, appropriateness, and adequacy to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Facilitate strategic claim discussions and resources to maximize opportunities for claim resolution including leveraging claim settlements.
  • Communicate with appropriate HR/EHS, site/store management on claim resolution and action plan for injured employees.
  • As necessary, engage outside counsel to assist in resolving workers' compensation claims.
  • Engage and counsel LOA Team, HR or EHS Managers with recommendations, referencing and applying internal policies, processes, state laws or regulations.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

FORMAL EDUCATION:

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree

Preferred:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

Required:

  • 2+ years' experience in Insurance/Claims Management or Finance experience
  • Business Knowledge includes a working knowledge of SW structure, business processes, and operations.
  • Skill set includes problem solving, critical thinking, organizational skills, excellent (oral and written) communication skills, and a capability to work independently.
  • Experience working in a cross-functional team environment to implement process improvements.

Preferred:

  • Ability to interface with top management

TECHNICAL/SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

Required:

  • Intermediate Microsoft Office Skills
  • Ability to analyze data and make decisions quickly
  • Intermediate analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including written and oral communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines while managing multiple projects.

Preferred:

  • History implementing or supporting systems
  • History of working with Oracle and EPM
