Phlebotomy Technician (Registered/Certified)

Dayton, OH
VA Medical Center | Clinical Laboratory Services

Spectrum Healthcare Resources has an exciting potential opportunity for a skilled Phlebotomy Technician to support the Dayton VA Medical Center.

This position plays a critical role in specimen collection and patient interaction within a hospital-based laboratory environment serving Veterans.

Minimum Qualifications

    Certificate from an accredited phlebotomy training program (minimum 120 didactic hours or state-required equivalent)

  • Certification/registration through ASCP or AMT (preferred per federal standards)

  • Minimum 2 years of phlebotomy experience in a clinical laboratory, hospital, or medical center setting

  • Completed at least:

    • 50 successful venipunctures

    • 10 successful skin punctures

  • Minimum of 1,040 hours worked as a Phlebotomy Technician within the past 3 years

  • Basic computer and typing skills

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform venipuncture and skin punctures for blood collection

  • Accession and prepare specimens for laboratory processing

  • Verify patient identity using proper protocols

  • Label specimens accurately and ensure timely transport to the laboratory

  • Centrifuge samples when appropriate per state and facility guidelines

  • Provide professional, compassionate care to diverse patient populations, including elderly and difficult draws

  • Maintain strict infection control standards

  • Interact effectively with inpatients, outpatients, and clinical staff
