Healthcare Informatics Training and Support Specialist


Department of Health & Human Services (DHHS)


Hourly Range: $25.37 - $38.03



Job Summary: The Healthcare Informatics Training & Support Specialist will provide training and ongoing technical support to internal/external end users of electronic health record (EHR) as well as billing applications to improve user proficiency, satisfaction, and system effectiveness. This position serves as a liaison between end users and the DHHS IT and Informatics team to support issue resolution, user adoption, and workflow optimization.



Please note: Position can be hybrid (minimum of 2 days, per week onsite) once the Healthcare Informatics Training and Support Specialist has satisfactorily completed their orientation and training.



Job Responsibilities:



  • Maintain advanced knowledge of EHR, billing systems, and related healthcare applications including workflows, upgrades, and optimization opportunities. Assist with testing updates and evaluating systems to improve performance, utilization, and end-user adoption.
  • Manage, triage, and assist to resolve Help Desk tickets. Provide advanced support in coordination with other business partners. Deliver technical assistance and troubleshooting to end users ensuring timely resolution and minimal workflow disruption.
  • Coordinate and deliver EHR and billing system training related to new functionality, workflow changes, and enhancements. Develop training materials, support user adoption, and educate both superusers and end users.
  • Create user-facing documents and communications including training guides and videos as well as tip sheets. Author and manage content for the EHR resource library and develop multimedia learning materials.
  • Analyze workflows to identify and resolve system and process issues. Lead change management efforts and partner with stakeholders to implement improvements that enhance efficiency and system use.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, supporting effective use of EHR and billing systems.


Required Education, License/Certification and Experience:



  • Current residency in the State of Wisconsin required
  • Valid Wisconsin driver license and personal vehicle
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • At least one (1) year of work experience in end user training and support, including experience with EHR software or similar required
  • Advanced knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as Microsoft Word and Excel, required
  • Ability to lift/carry/push/pull up to 25lbs.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Health Information Technology or closely related field



Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proactive team player with strong written and verbal communication skills; Excellent organizational abilities; Passion for training and supporting end users; Knowledge of office practices, principles, methods, and procedures; knowledge of spelling, grammar, and punctuation; knowledge of the use of a personal computer; written and oral communication skills; organizational skills; proficiency in word processing and data entry; ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to maintain records.
