Job Description

Job Title: Health, Safety & Environmental Affairs (HSE) Coordinator
Location: East Hartford, CT 06108
Pay Rate: $40-$50/hr
Job Type: Contract/Contract to Hire
Start Date: ASAP
Schedule: Onsite, Day Shift (M-F)

U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency Required

The candidate will be responsible for leading the HSE program and ensuring the division is in compliance with all Federal and State regulations and client HSE Standards.

Core Responsibilities:

* Assist with administering the local HSE programs, ensuring overall HS&E compliance.
* Participate in the monthly HSE meeting and Workplace Inspections. Follow-up on corrective actions.
* Conduct required training as mandated by safety and environmental regulations and company policy.
* Administer and maintain compliance with all environmental reporting, including preparing applications for Environmental permits, as required.
* Conduct risk assessments; proactively identify and evaluate hazards and recommend corrective measures. Conduct machine guarding assessments and partner with operations to develop safe set up procedures. Conduct ergonomic assessments and implement ergonomic improvements.
* Conduct employee HSE training that is engaging and impactful.
* Guide and support operations on employee engagement in HSE and behavior-based safety observations. Implement proactive health & wellness programs to ensure a safe workplace. Manage elements of the Worker"s Compensation program, including initial investigation and reporting, claims management and safe return to work.
* Collect data and prepare environmental, health and safety reports, such as air emissions, hazardous waste, storm water, Tier II, TRI, and accident/incident reports.

Qualifications:

* 1-3 years of HS&E experience in a manufacturing environment.
* Education and experience in:
- HS&E management systems and process development.
- HS&E regulations and standards.
- Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
* Ability to negotiate persuasively and influence results through others.
* Ability to coach and mentor line staff to drive the Safety and Health 'zero-incident' mentality.
* High degree of accuracy and attention and attention to detail. Excellent organization and time management skills.
* Team player with a strong commitment to the HS&E profession.
* Must have exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate across all levels of the organization and develop effective working
relationships which foster integrity, trust and respect.
* Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and be proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).

Education Requirements:
* Bachelor"s Degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene or related field
