JOB DESCRIPTION - WELD LEADMAN

Job Summary

Responsible for providing day-to-day supervision of weld employees in the shop.

Typical Duties



  • Actively supports the Company's commitment to safety and its "Core Values."

  • Plans for work to be performed
  • Ensure productivity levels are maintained
  • Communicates with Operations if there are delays in schedule
  • Supports and mentors weld team
  • Conduct toolbox/JSA meetings and attend all safety meetings
  • Address issues and concerns; report to Operations Manager to achieve maximum productivity
  • Supports QA/QC with weld testing of new hires/rehires
  • Identify safety hazards you or other employees may be subject to and take all necessary corrective


action to eliminate or minimize safety hazards



  • Perform other duties as required or assigned


Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience



  • 3-5+ years' experience in a supervisory capacity
  • 5+ years' experience as Class A welder
  • Understands and enforces all Matrix / OSHA safety policies
  • Strong supervisory skills
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Extremely knowledgeable and thorough understanding of how to utilize various blueprint drawings
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical information, such as codes (ASME, API-650-620)
  • Legible Printing / Handwriting skills; ability to read tape measure
  • Efficiently manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Basic computer skills: working knowledge of scheduling/tracking materials and completed parts utilizing various software packages
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record (if operating company vehicles)


    Physical Requirements



    • Must be able to perform tasks at heights.
    • Work will include pushing, pulling, lifting or carrying objects weighing up to 60 pounds, such as raw or fabricated material, equipment or tools. Heavy lifting will often be required to perform tasks.
    • Must be able to kneel, squat, and climb. Work will include frequent bending, kneeling, crouching and stooping and occasional climbing onto equipment and/or trailers. Work involves standing and/or walking for extended periods of time, up to a minimum of 8-10 hours per day
    • Must be able to perform required duties for extended periods of time, often inside confined spaces.
    • Must be able to perform tasks in hot and cold temperatures.
    • Lift up to 50 lbs. with assistance.
    • Finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination and ability to maintain balance.
    • Must be able to climb ladders.
