UW Health in northern Illinois is recruiting an exceptional, board-certified Cardiac Surgeon to join our dynamic cardiovascular surgery team. We are looking for candidates with an interest in adult cardiac surgery, with a focus on coronary artery disease and structural heart disease, including surgical and trans-catheter aortic valve replacement.

We're looking for candidates who have the desire and passion to help build a robust cardiothoracic surgery service line in northern Illinois. You will have the full support of the Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Wisconsin-Madison in this endeavor.

As a member of our medical group with over 350 employed providers, including comprehensive cardiology and pulmonary teams as well as over 100 primary care providers, you have the benefit of a built-in referral base from the area's preferred healthcare provider.

As a valued member of the UW Health in northern Illinois Medical Group, your community-based practice will flourish with the following support and benefits:
* Providing care to cardiothoracic surgery patients at UW Health SwedishAmerican Hospital, working closely with advanced practice providers who streamline workflow and patient management
* Working exclusively in the region's only designated Heart Hospital, UW Health is the most preferred provider of cardiac services in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin.
* Supporting a robust TAVR program
* Supporting Carbone Cancer Center Rockford in caring for lung cancer patients
* Access to state-of-the-art equipment and operating rooms, with brand new hybrid room, 15 modern surgical suites and 3 Da Vinci Xi robots
* 30-bed ICU with dedicated 24-hour coverage by in-house intensivists
* 12-county regional referral area in northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin, with a catchment area of over 500,000
* Academic appointment and teaching with University of Illinois College of Medicine at Rockford

Qualifications:
* MD, DO, or equivalent degree with completion of residency in General Surgery and additional fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Surgery or completion of an Integrated-6 year or 4-3 Early Specialization cardiothoracic residency is required.
* Active license in the State of Illinois and active DEA license, or the ability to apply for such licenses prior to or upon hire.
